This auction is for an antique Markel Electric Heataire Neo-Glo space heater. It was manufactured by Markel Electric Products in Buffalo. New York. This item was owned by wife's grandparents and then given to my wife's parents in the late 1950s. So it is most likely originally dates from the 1940s or so. For at least the past fifty years, it has been stored on a shelf in a closet. We plugged it in this afternoon and it worked, both as a heater and as a fan. We only ran it for fifteen minutes and then unplugged it and lightly cleaned it of its dust. This is a very heavy cast iron art deco type piece. It almost looks like an antique cash register. The front grill is removable. It is a dark brown color. The cord appears original and is in good condition. This is a a real Machine Age Piece. It does have scratches and scrapes, but still displays well. I have plugged this in, and it does work fine. The coils glow red, and a little fan blows the heated air from the grill. The cord is cloth and does have some fray with age, but functional. The four-footed base and lid are made of scrolling black cast iron; the sides. Also black, are made of tin. The piece is in very good condition with light areas rust and patina to be expected of an antique. The bottom legs span a ten-inch diameter, the lid is about 8" in diameter, and the tin canister portion is approx 6½" diameter. The wrought legs hold the heater three inches off the floor. There is an open screen at the bottom which is rusty and has a small hole. As you can see from the pictures. All heating elements are intact and the on/off valve(perhaps nickel-plated) is in place. Dangerous early industrial space heater. Manufactured in the USA by the A.J. Lindemann and Hoverson Company of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Has few, if any, of the modern safety features that are now standard on newer model space heaters. I doubt this thing has an automatic shut off switch, it probably just keeps on gobbling up electricity and heating up the space it's in, the coil getting all red-hot and glowing, even after if it has been accidentally tipped over! And. That wire grill with the huge spaces will hardly offer much protection against the risk of the heater catching any flammable stuff on fire if it comes into contact. It might not be safe. Hi. Up for auction is an old glass heater? I am not sure what this is. I will describe it the best is can, if it's not some kind of heater you can let me know. thanks. it is made of brown glass. There is a metal lid the center rod like thing compresses. it has a metal handle and band. in raised lettering it says, PATENTED JUNE 24, 1919 JUNE 15, 1920, on the bottom is an OWENS GLASS CO symbol. IT is 8" high and 7-1/2" across the bottom. I have not opened it or tried to clean it. I think the some of the stuff on the outside is old dried up paint.

Funny the box it was sold in expresses the fact that they are made from corrosion resistant aluminum. Also included in the box is a Heat adapter to turn it into a heater. Pretty sweet I'd say.
