Fisher Scientific Muffle Furnace, Model 550-126
This oven was removed from a working environment and is in great working condition. I had this oven plugged in and running for a little over an hour and it got up to and over the temp of 537 Celsius(1000 Fahrenheit) with no issues. When setting the temp the max this oven can be set to is 1125 Celsius. The IR thermometer used to check the temp maxes out the 537 degrees Celsius(1000 Fahrenheit) so I was not able to check for max temp. I do not have the manual or any other extras to inc lude. There was some slight surface rust on a few parts. The inside of the oven has a number of cracks in the ceramics, but it doesn't really look to be falling apart or similar. There are some cracked pieces in the furnace. But it didn't look like they came from the furnace. For more information on the cosmetic condition please refer to the pictures below. From the photos you can see where originally the unit had a circular plate with dial indicator lines on it. Apparently this variable resistor originally was hooked up to a transistor tube based transformer and that regulated the correct current for a certain temperature threshold. This tube is missing) He also pointed out the old bakelite socket where one of those old TV tubes would have originally been stuck into it. When it was in this original state(with the tube and resistor knob controlling the transformer the temperature specs may have been correct due ... moreto the fact that was the way the factory built it. So the"EUROTHERM" module(square temperature adjusting box) was basically a later modification that was"modded" into the unit. He also showed me how the coils were so loosely secured due to age that a bump or nudge could have cause one heating coil to touch the other resulting in the over current as well. ATS Applied Test Systems Series 3610 Furnace/Oven For sale- an ATS Applied Test Systems Series 3610 Furnace/Oven. The same tag with that info on it shows the max temp as being 260 degrees F. I usually think of a furnace as getting hotter than that. But what do I know? Physically the unit is in great shape. The exterior isn’t perfect but if you are worried about some scuffs and scratches to the stainless steel then perhaps you should consider buying a new one. The interior looks about as good as it needs to look. The insulation is in good shape. I pulled some stuffing out of the hole in the bottom of the unit just so that you could see it better and I could get a better measurement. Then I went away without having actually measured it. Maybe 2 ½” in diameter? If that is a critical dimension I will try to get something more exact. Overall ... morethe unit is roughly 19 inches high. 15 inches deep, and about 12 inches wide. When I say overall I am referring to the main stainless steel box. Latches. Fittings, etc. add to those dimensions. Internally it is about 14 ¾” high. 8 ¼” deep, and 7 ¾” wide. When the two AC cords on the back of the unit are plugged in the fan runs and the unit heats up. That is the extent of my testing and NO warranty is offered. However.
