Vintage Boston No 4 pencil sharpener, self feeder auto wooden handle, celluloid
This vintage dark green Boston No 4 pencil sharpener has a self feeding mechanism. A wooden handle, and a celluloid(cellulose acetate? cover. Overall length is about 5- 3/8" when the self feeder is not extended) Overall height is about 4- 1/2" Width is 2- 7/8" The sharpener is in very good to excellent condition both mechanically and cosmetically. We used it to sharpen the blue pencil(see 5th photo) The cover is very snug, and a little difficult to re-install. The sharpener has a little paint loss. The chrome has some spots and some very minor scratches that are only noticeable upon close inspection. The plastic cover has some minor scuffing. The worst of this is visible in the 7th photo(right side. On and just above the gleam of light) It is not bad at all. The chrome could be polished to look like new, but this sharpener ... morelooks great the way it is. The self feeder works as follows: You pinch the levers at the top. Slide the mechanism forward(extend it) insert the pencil so it is against the cutters, release the levers and then crank the handle(see 8th photo) The mechanism is under tension when it is extended, so it pulls the pencil into the cutters. The sharpener has 3 holes on the base for mounting. This is a very nice example. If you have any questions. Please ask.

You are bidding on an old Boston pencil sharpener. There are 8 different size holes for different pencil sizes. Two screw holes are on the bottom so it can be secured at a desk. You will find corrosion on the metal parts(I did not try to steel wool it off) This has been in a garage for many years and all I have done is test it and wipe it down with a wet towel. It looks to me as though it has never been used at all. It comes with the box- the top of the box has come off(in tghe photo I have it resting on top) And the box is very worn and has storage dust on it. It also comes with a small envelope that I assume contains screws(I did not want to break the seal to open it) The actual sharpener itself is like brand new. It is embossed with"Weimer Meats 1857-1957" on one side. It is very shiny and sharp looking and the blue-ish metal is a beautiful color. Feel free to ask questions.
