The aluminum clad exterior bottom does stain and scratch, but the function of the aluminum clad material spreads heat across the entire bottom of the pan for even heat, as well as helps the stainless steel interior reach temperature faster. A somewhat older, REVERE WARE, stainless-steel/copper bottom, 4 1/2 quart Stock Pot with a matching Lid in very nice condition without any dents, dings, warping, pitting or staining and with a clean and shiny copper bottom. This is a pretty nice older pot that sits flat on a formica table top without any wobble! The stainless steel is completely clean and still quite shiny. Both of the pot handles and the lid knob are tight and unbroken, but only somewhat shiny now. This pot measures 9 3/8 inches across, rim to rim, 4 1/4 inches deep and is a 4 1/2 quart capacity.
