WARWICK CHINA BETHANY COLLEGE WV PHILLIPS HALL RED RESTAURANT WARE PLATE 1930+
Up for auction or"Buy It Now" is a Marked. Phillips Hall(1891 to Present) of Bethany College(1840 to Present) in Wheeling West, Virginia, Commemorative Restaurant Ware Grade Dinner Plate with a High Quality Red Decorative Transfer Pattern of the Newly Renovated(1929-1930) Phillips Hall, a Floral Border& a Greek Key Style Verge on a Gloss White Base Glaze which was Manufactured by the Warwick China Company also of Wheeling, West Virginia(1881 to 1951) that's in"Near-Mint" Hardly Used Condition from Circa 1930. This dinner size plate has no chips. Cracks, glaze crazing, major scratches, scuffs, stains or repairs of any kind and I'm stating"Near-Mint" condition only because of a couple of very faint surface scratches within the floral border area. These scratches are too faint to see in the pictures ... morebecause you'll have to use a magnifying glass in bright lighting to see them. This plate mainly has factory flaws and I've given you close up photographs to view these which are pictures 11 and 12. Picture 11 shows you the flaws on the left side of the plate within the"well" and picture 12 shows you the right side within the well. When you take a close look at this plate you'll see what looks like water droplets throughout the pattern, but most of them are hidden by the decorative pattern. They also appear to be discolored, but it's actually the way light picks up these flaws. It's some type of glaze flaw which I've never seen before and I've been buying, selling and collecting pottery and porcelain for well over a decade now. I don't know all the manufacturing aspects of making pottery either, but I believe this plate was glazed white first, then the transfer pattern was applied and lastly a clear glaze was applied. This would mean there were at least two kiln firings and something went wrong with the clear glaze. Overall the aesthetics of this plate are still intact and when displayed you have to be pretty close to see them. There are a

This Vintage Buffalo China Set of BLUE LUNE is in lovely condition- BRIGHT. BLUE LUNE back stamp- I believe the date codes of M-6 and M-9 means the 1950's. The DOUBLE EGG CUPS measure approximately 3 inches tall x 3& 1/4 inches diameter. The Side Bowl measures approx. 4& 3/4 inches diameter x 1& 1/4 inches deep. There are no cracks and no chips.
