The rubber will slide right off leaving you a great 8" all cast iron wheel or left as is giving you a great 10" wheel. The bearings where broken so I discarded them. The axle opening is 1 7/8" and the axle through and through ... moreis 2 1/4" The lettering on the spoke is raised with the companies name. This company was in business from 1937 until 1965 based on my research. I have attached a picture of the original factory with the ghost image of the companies advertisement still showing.

Lot of vintage/mid century furniture casters-2 sets of 4 & 2 extras
Some surface rust but still structurally in very good condition. I have had success painting the metal on similar ones with spary enamel or spray chrome finish. The clear ones are made of Lexan. 2 Vintage Darnell 5 1/2" Hard Rubber Tire& Wheel Industrial Heavy Duty Casters They are stamped- Darnell Caster Long Beach Cal- Chicago- New York- Darnell Casters 65 1/2 This used pair of Darnell Casters that are in very good condition. The rubber tires are in excellent shape and spin freely. The brackets show signs of wear. A little paint chipping here and there, but are in good condition also. These measure 9-1/2" tall with the tires 5-1/2" diameter. The bracket is 1/8" thick& 4-1/2" by 3" by 2-1/8" The solid steel stem is 3" tall and 1-5/16" diameter.
