Asian influenced mid century porch sconces from Artolier Corp. Garfield, NJ. A great looking set to showcase your postwar, mid century ranch or rambler pad. I am guessing they are from the 60's. They are constructed of a lightweight metal, painted black with three panes of reverse painted glass. They take a standard light bulb. Size: Roof line is 8" wide by 4.75" deep. They will protrude 6.5" off your wall when installed. The height from the base of lantern to brass ball at top is about 9" tall. The backplates are 4 7/16" square. I have tested both and both are in working order. Condition: They are in excellent used condition. No major dings or dents. No cracks to glass. Each one has one tiny spot of paint loss on its roof, one on the seam coming up(see pic) and one just a small fleck. This auction is for ONE old. Handmade porch or outdoor light. The light the winner receives, may or may not be pictured, but the two main differences between the lights is how much exterior paint is on them and how much twist there is on the 1/4" square stock welded to the light. It is probably an antique. But I haven't been able to verify that. I am told these were taken off a local church in the Williams, AZ area. It was definitely on a building when someone repainted it. That is why you see paint on the parts that would have been against the wall. The previous owner told me that the glass is handblown. When you run your hand on the glass. Pieces of it tries to grab you. The 1/4" square stock looks like it was heated& hand twisted. Before it was welded to the frame. Rate of twist varies from bar to bar on the light. Some ... moreare 1 twist per inch. Some are 1 twist per 2 inch. The wires are pretty old& I don't trust the insulation. The fixture has two sided of very think glass with beveled edges and two sides solid with refectors on the inside for directional lighting.I'm not sure of the age of this fixture but it looks to be very old. the fixture has some dings and dents as well as paint peeling and some rusting.The fixture has not been tested but I don't think there's lot that could be wrong except maybe the socket or wiring and that should be an easy fix. this fixture would make for a great restore project. I bought these at an estate sale at a craftsman house where they had removed all the original light fixtures and replaced them with modern ones. I could not believe it. What were they thinking? So they need a new home where they will be appreciated for their beauty. They are in great condition for their age with a great patina that only comes from age. They have been tested and they both work and they were made in the U.S.A. The beveled glass is in great condition. Anything that looks like an imperfection is just reflection or what you are seeing through the glass. This is an antique indoor or outdoor wall mount electric sconce fixture. it has nice ornate detailing with a thick patina from age. it is made from copper and is wired up until the threaded screw under the wall canopy. the canopy and lamp cage are also copper. it has a nice porcelain socket which holds a single generic sized bulb. measures about 12 1/2 inches up and down by 4 3/4 inches wide and sits 10 3/4 inches. it has some ware to it. The cage has some parts missing patina and have exposed copper. Nice looking vintage lamp. Has a little paint on rim. Signs of wear but sits straight and no damage. Glass globe inside has a little chipping on one spot where it meets the housing. You can see condition in the pics. Solid with all nuts and screws. Just needs mount bar which is easy to find. I will try to take a picture when lighted soon. Has a good amount of wire left for install. Glass cylider is very nice and is 1/4" thick at bottom and thinner at top to fit housing. Etched flower design. About a foot tall and 8" Diameter. Nice decorative old porch light fixture. It is made of some type of non magnetic cast metal. It is in very good condition has no cracks. Breaks, or chips in the metal or the pressed glass globe. The globe is threaded and screws into the fitter. Has a nice black and and grey speckled patina. Also has some white paint splatter.
