Neat old State Farm Insurance Advertising Sign. Made out of wood and is extremely sturdy. Weighs almost 25 pounds! Probably was mounted on some type of a pole many years ago. Sign measures approximately 36 x 18 x 4 5/16 inches. The two original holes are each 3 inches in diameter. The sign is quite dusty and would benefit from an overall cleaning. Condition rates an 8- 10. Has some scuffing and some staining around the top hole. Has no cracks. Retains very nice colors. Both sides have the same bold State Farm artwork. This sign would have to be very old. As Mr. Rutledge died in 1910. The others similar to this one I have seen were 1903 circa. These signs are few and far between. I you might guess from my EBay user name I have been an insurance recruiter. I have gone on to other work and have decided to sell the vintage and antique signs that once hung in the reception area. I'm not a collector but did enjoy having the office decorated in a manner which most clients and candidates found to be nostalgic. From the Employers Mutual Casualty Company of Des Moines. Iowa, when I bought this sign I was told it hung in a factory in Wisconsin and that is was 50 years old when I bought it. The sign does read insurance agency but that is the company that it was promoting and still exists today. The large sign measures 48 by 18 inches. There are holes for attaching on each border. Insurance Advertising Sign Philadelphia National Insurance Co. Fire Marine Auto
This is a nice 3 dimensional insurance advertising sign or plaque in the shape of a shield. It is advertising the Philadelphia National Insurance Company with Independence Hall in the center and Fire. Marine and Automobile Insurance across the bottom. It is not wood, but is made to look like wood. It is heavy weighing just under 4 lbs. and measures 18" x 11 1/4" I'm not sure what material it is made of, maybe a heavy plastic or composite of some kind. It is in good condition, but does show some scuffing on the front and back, most of which is on Independence Hall, but still looks great. A unique sign to add to a collection.
