It has what appears to be water damage along the face of the first& last few pages& sometimes where they have dividers as can be seen in the photos. Specimen Book of Type Faces and Borders This is a type face and border book that was used for The-Advertiser. The Herald-Dispatch and The Herald-Advertiser all newspapers in Huntington, West Virginia. It is a very nice book with type specimens, borders and some clip art. All of the fonts are named and are a good size for seeing what the type looks like. The fonts in this book are still available today even though the book is 55-60 years old. The binder is in poor condition, with covers nearly detached; the wrappers on the"Some Keystone Faces" specimen book are detached but present; otherwise, the condition is good, with signs of use.

I can't find a date within the conetnts, but I believe that it is Circa 1940s or possibly 1930s. Bound into a two-hole hardcover binder. 9. x 11.25" Unpaginated but approx. 1000 pages gvive or take. Light geneal wear only to binder. Old tape repair to one page of the contents. Otherwise, the contents are clean and in very good condition. The first approx. 50 pages are marked as being printed at the Monotype Corporation Limited in Great Britain. The rest of the binder pertains to Lanston.

Preliminary pages have considerable information about this huge Chicago-based typesetting company. The type specimen pages start on page 22. IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT THE CONDITION OF THIS BOOK: For some reason I can't fathom. Leaf 115/116 has lost about 1/4 of its paper at the gutter(and is therefore missing a fair amount of specimen text) and, too, it is only BARELY holding onto the book"by a thread. Still, the leaf IS STILL here and since the book is not a narrative(printing only the same lines of sample text with each typeface throughout most of the book) you can easily tell the 1/4 of the text that's missing so this is not near as egregious defect-wise as it would be in, say, a novel or a history.
