Old Original Red Wing Crock Stoneware Poultry Fount Buttermilk Feeder Farm NICE!
This is a really neat original Red Wing stoneware poultry drinking fount and buttermilk feeder. It is fresh from a local farm estate and measures about 6 1/4 inches in diameter and about 8 inches tall. It is in excellent condition with normal wear for being almost 100 years old! It does have one chip about the size of a 50 cent piece on it but the nice part of it is that it's on the opposite side from the name on it. This really won't be noticed if you display it with the label in the front and I think it could be repaired with a little talent. These original poultry feeders are getting harder to find every day as the amount of original homesteads keeps getting smaller. The survival rate on these can't be real high. With some discoloration due to use and storage(see pix) There are small cracks at the base of the 2"feet" But not sure if that was originally there at time of manufacture"Red Wing Union Stoneware Red. Wing Minn" is stamped on the front Glaze is still shiny. I can find no other cracks or chips I'm not an expert by any means. This is a nice old collection of poultry water. Feeder and nesting eggs. The large glass bottom waterer, is made to sit on the ground or floor of your coop, and you can use any gallon jar with it. You add water to the jar and set the bottom on it upside down and flip over, the gravity will do the rest. The same goes for the small glass waterer for chicks( you just use a smaller jar) and the round metal feeder is rare to find any more, you put the chick feed inside and the chicks can't walk on thier food, they have to eat around it. And the wood nesting eggs are for the hen that wants to set on eggs and you want to collect them.No chips or cracks in the glass items. Actually, I think most people would want this as a collectible as it is in Very Good Condition. The last pic shows a chip at one of the two openings. Other then that I don't see anything wrong with it. It is heavy as the base weighs about 5.5 lbs and the top weighs about 6.9 lbs. For your consideration is a chicken feeder made from galvanized steel. It is made to screw onto any jar with a standard size opening(I have it screwed onto a 1/2 gallon ATLAS STRONG SHOULDER MASON) It has 7 openings. The jar is filled with whatever solid the chickens are to eat; the feeder is attached and it is turned upside down on the chicken coop floor and carefully scooted to the desired location. It has a maximum diameter of 5 7/8" and with the jar attached. A height of 10 1/2" A previous owner painted the galvanized steel white with large black spots. The paint has peeled off in places and is chipped off in many more places. I do not know, if it should come apart like it does or not come apart. Vintage Stoneware Chicken Waterer Poultry Farm Crock Feeder Ceramic crock
I found this at a barn sale about 15 years ago and love displaying it. But some of my grandchildren live here now and I fear for its safety. There is one small chip on the ledge part. But it it scarcely noticeable and probably happened years ago. There is also a flaw in the back, dating to its manufacturer. Inside the top is a place where the clay separated during firing. But it doesn't affect the sturdiness of the crock. It was sold with a ceramic pie plate, that substitutes for any original crockery dish. There are no markings on the feeder. I love having folks guess what it is. Even my mother, who raised chickens as a girl, couldn't place it. I hope it finds a good home. It weighs 4 pounds, 12 1/2 ounces.

Up for bid is a Vintage Purina Rabbit/Poultry Feeder. It is made of galvanized tin and is in very good condition. The movable dispenser is in working order and slides nicely. The Purina graphics are intact and are easily read. The feeder measures 12" tall. 6" wide, and about 8-1/2" deep at its widest. There is some surface rust on the bottom. Condition of this piece has no chips cracks& in beautiful condition. Measures 11"x 9 1/2" There are some glazing inconsistencies and perhaps manufacturing flaws in the feet. Feet have chips. Rough edges. Chips, and small flea bites to edge of tray. Wire handle is intact. I have seen some with a patent number, this one indicates patent applied for.
