Clay votive chariot with a pair of cattle. Syro-Hittite from the 2nd millennium BC This a wonderful example of clay molding talent. The chariot has all four origional wheels with a wooden dowell rod(not of same period) to hold the wheels onto the chariot. I also have both of the origional cattle that belong together as a set. The wagon stands approx 5 inches tall and approx 5 1/2 inches long from wheel to wheel with incised decorations. Cattle are approx 3 inches long and approx 2 1/2 tall. This was a votive piece meaning the model was offered as a votive gift to please the gods. Perhaps by a celebrant of their rites. GREAT 1918 era Real Photo PC Cowboys on Horses Herd Cattle @ Osage Oklahoma
You are bidding on a postally used real photo postcard showing a group of cowboys on horse back herding many many cattle. The location is not given but the card was postmarked in Osage Oklahoma. And some one in pencil, probably later, has written Osage Okla on the back of the card. Of course I cannot say for sure, but I believe it to be in Osage, Oklahoma. The card is probably only in very good condition with layering and rounding at the corners, a short crease extending from the top right edge, just below the corner, another short crease extending from the right edge, a short light diagonal crease near the lower left corner, creases at each corner and/or an edge at a corner, edge wear including some small nicks and bumps, some causing a small crease, along the edges, a few small nicks at the edges, some darkening along the edges, a little ... morelayering at the edges, more so at a small spot along the lower right edge, a little surface wear, some spotting along the borders, and a little darkening along the borders and at least two ink or pencil marks on the card, and a little stray in mostly seen in the skyline above the trees. There is darkening, spotting, cloudiness, and/or foxing on the back of the card and an area of darker moisture spots along the lower edge and border.
