CUBIC COMMUNICATION PSU-8 13.6 VOLT DC POWER SUPPLY
This is a DC power supply that(I believe) was used with HAM communications transceivers. I used it for a while to power a car radio in my shop. I tested this with a carbon pile load tester just to see how much current it would supply. I was able to load it to 20 AMPS DC and the voltage never dropped. At 24 Amps the red switch tripped(circuit breaker) I was able to draw 20 amps for almost 30 minutes without any problems. This is a vintage power supply sold by RadioShack in the early 80's. I found it in a storage bin. I plugged it in and put it on the voltage meter and it is putting out what it should. About 13.5 V DC. The label says 13.8 but my meter is analog so there is some wiggle room on the needle. Other than some expected dings from its age. The only thing I see wrong with it is the crack in the plastic on/off switch cover. The switch cover is removable and could be epoxied or the switch itself is just fine. I think the switch cover was more for appearance than function.
