This is an exquisite antique 19th century set of brass scale weights. the weights are set in a stunning handmade wooden box which is lined with purple velour…even under the weights. it is marked underneath"Made in Germany" and has nice bronze hardware on the front. the larger weights are made of solid brass and marked with weight measurements on the top of each. the smaller weights sit under a thick removable piece of glass and each have their own slots. in the front is a pair of tweezers to grab the small weights. the set is most likely made for measuring precious metals. it looks like a complete set but the tweezers are a tight fit and not sure if they are original the box measures 5 by 3 1/2 inches. in good shape. Excellent condition. 17 weights with tweezers Here are the weights and# of each: 50 GM- 1 500 MG- 1 20 GM- 2 200 MG- 2 10 GM- 2 100 MG- 1 5 GM- 2 50 MG- 2 2 GM- 2 20 MG- 2 1 GM-1 10 MG- 1, I can find no manufacturer mark. Though they look very much like ones manufactured by Ohaus. But I am not certain. These were my fathers. I estimate that he had these from the 1960's though possibly from back in the'50's when he was in engineering school. I have sought to describe this item as accurately as possible. Awesome looking little German scale with partial weight set in good used condition. Scale has light surface scratching and wear. Weight pans have corrosion present as pictured. Chains are solid and affixed firmly. Weight set is incomplete, 5 weights appear to be original and marked 1 oz. and 20 PW, 10 PW( 1/2 oz. 3 small rectangular weights are marked 2, 3, and 5 DWTS. 7 small possibly tin and homemade are marked 1 DWTS and various GRN designations.
