I would rate the condition as outstanding(not a technical term) considering this is a used tool well over 100 years old. No notable defects. Displays exceptionally well. 6-1/8" long. Handle: 1-1/4" dia. Face: 2" dia. H.CHANNON COMPANY was a hardware merchant founded in 1875 on Market Street in Chicago. They sold industrial machinery. Commercial supplies. Household products, sporting goods, and everything in between. My guess is that"CHAMPION" on this stamp was a particular line of products they sold. It could've been anything from athletic gear to leather bicycle seats to pulley belts. This iron was acquired directly from J.R. Sikes Company. Sikes was a historic leather ... moremanufacturer in Minneapolis dating back to the 1800's. In the early days. They were a gateway to the western frontier, supplying leather products to many US retailers. Including H.CHANNON CO. Back then, leather was used in everything, from belting on motors and implements, to clothing and everyday household items. It was very prevalent. And items sold by H.CHANNON were stamped with THIS VERY IRON. Sikes leather closed in 2011 due to the current owner entering retirement. Walking into the shop itself was like stepping back in time. Much of the machinery was antique and primitive. Some even medieval looking, and much of it was still being used. I purchased a large cabinet containing modern cutting dies and a few of these old irons were found buried in the back. As for pricing this. This is a perfect working order Sidney Tool Company 24" thickness planer. It has a 5 hp. cutter motor. 1/3 hp. feed motor, an extra set of knives, a grinding jig, and a set of blocks. This Precision Clamping Assembly was removed from a Willemin/Macodel 408 MT(arguably one of the best milti-axis machines on the market today) It was used to mount the"bar-end detect mechanism" but its' versatility allows for endless configurations. The dimensions* are as follows: Block-Length 40.08mm. Width 11.90mm, Height 29.90mm. Mounting Holes are 4.57mm in Diameter and spaced 19.977mm apart. The Fixed Rod is 60mm long and is 8mm in Diameter. It is held in the block by a 2mm set screw. The Moveable Rod is 100mm long and is 8mm in Diameter.
