One(marked) charged up ok but had a slightly higher leakage current so it is slightly suspect. This unit also has a dent in the outer cylinder which may be the problem. As of today. There are four units left and one of them is the one with the dent.

For auction here I offer a single Mallory power factor correction capacitor. This capactor(1 of 3 that I can sell) is used but tested between 61.5 and 62uf on my fluke325 multi meter capacitor test function. One capacitor gives 5kvar of capacitence. All 3 capacitors will give you 15kvar on 480 volts, or about enough to pfc a 75 horsepower motor. These are normally used on 3 phase motor circuits. The capacitor will be shipped with the appropriate bleed down resistor installed. I do know a little about power factor correction, if you have any questions just ask. If you need more than one but no more than 3 messsage me. I will sell the lot for a very reasonable price. The fixed shipping charge will be via usps to the lower 48. Two(2) large industrial grade Hitachi HCG F5A 3900 MFD 400 VDC(surge 450 VDC) screw type(M6) electrolytic capacitors with mounting brackets. They are used in good working condition with some signs of wear. Such as nicks and scratches. The capacitors were removed from working equipment, slowly reformed and kept at operational voltage for several hours(picture 5, just an example) I use these capacitors in my homemade tube amplifiers(last 4 pictures. Just an example) They make very quiet power supply(even though it is an overkill for a 10– 15 Watts SE class A amp) The benefit is a very clear sound with quick transients and extended bass response. However, precautions such as using a large inductor choke or resistor before the capacitor must be taken ... moreto prevent over-driving the rectifier tube. These caps pull about 200 to 275 mA of current when charging for about 8 to 12 seconds, depending on the +B voltage. It should not be a problem with a solid state rectifier. Up for sale is a Solen metalized polypropylene capacitor. It is excellent for high end audio circuits or speaker crossovers. And sounds much better than a metalized polyester capacitor. Being polypropylene, it has a vanishingly small dielectric absorption coefficient, which makes it almost transparent for mid and high frequencies. The only ones better IMHO are the Hovland Musicaps, which are rare and expensive! This cap is used, and has about 2" leads, as shown in the pictures.
