HP 8601A SWEEP OSCILLATOR
This unit has been on my workbench for years and has done everything I’ve ever asked of it. I am upgrading equipment so now it is time for it to have a new home. We did a thorough operational check. The frequencies are all in spec, the output is accurate with one problem(noted below) and the 30% modulation was set correctly, sweep widths were right on, markers worked as they should, very much everything except for the output above about 105 MHz at higher outputs. It passed all checks except for the output would start to drop above about 105 mHz and dropped about 2 dB below spec on higher powers. Below 105-106 MHz or below 0 dBM everything was great. Pictures show it used with a crystal detector(not included) and hooked to a scope(also not included) in full sweep at 10 dBm, sweeping a 24 MHz crystal and sweeping 10 MHz wide at 30 MHz with ... morethe 5-MHz markers on. The output is shown on an accurate Booton wattmeter and HP 8601 modulation monitor(not included) The cabinet was given a fresh coat of HP blue-gray. Includes the 8601A, and a reprint of the HP service manual– this is one of the best written tech manuals ever– wish everything was written this well) Box is 12X12X24 and 25 pounds. The sweep voltage is linear and the modulation at 1khz is clean. Pictures show the clean output on both the low and high band into a 50 ohm termination. The Oscilloscope shown only has a bandwidth of 60Mhz but the sweeper was checked on a calibrated Tektronix 2465A scope(300Mhz BW) to 110Mhz. The frequency tracking was measured on an HP 5328A with an external rubidium 10Mhz clock.
