Nice Vintage Cherokee Indian Splint Oak Miniature Market Basket or Gift Basket
Up for auction is a well-crafted little vintage Cherokee Indian splint oak gift basket or miniature market basket. It has beautiful detailing. With its walnut stripes on the sides which are still nicely visible and very little faded. The basket also features oak-wrapped rims, and a bentwood oak frame. Just like the full-sized market baskets, the bentwood oak handle on this little basket has been carved and notched to fit over the rim for extra stability. There is a weaver's name or initials inked in one corner of the underside, looks like, zeb. This beautifully woven Cherokee Indian splint oak basket will make a terrific addition to someone's collection. The basket is a nice small size for one of these Cherokee baskets. Offered is an Vintage Handmade Penobscot Yarn Basket of Sweet Grass. Ash Splints& Braided Cord. This basket probably dates mid-century and is in EXCELLENT Condition. The basket with lid measures 8 inches high and approximately 7.75 inches in diameter. It has two handles of braided cord and an attached lid which peaks in the center. The dyed ash splints that have been exposed to light have faded but are still remarkably vibrant both on the outside AND inside of the basket. Overall condition is EXCELLENT with no broken splints. Vintage 1800's/ early 1900's Splint Handled Basket
Fresh from a Buffalo Estate is this great early basket. It stands app. 12" tall to the top of the handle. And is 25" wide and 6-1/2" of basket to the side. I do not know what kind of wood it is, but the basket is in great shape. The wood handle shows the early shaping of the wood when there were no machine tools to do this. It is in excellent condition other than for a couple of cracks here and there, it appears to have very little use. This item would be a wonderful addition to your collection! All the chairs referenced all nearly identical in size to this example. A rather simple design. It has a two elongated turned spindle back with a single rung top. The tall and elongated finials are completely original and fully intact. The stretchers are all original as are the feet. THE FEET ARE INTACT AND ORIGINAL. The original Oak Splint Seat is fantastic. Minor losses but still about 95% complete. It has the greatest color and patina. I don't think you could find another Pilgrim Century Chair in such condition. All of the components are original. Up for auction is a well-crafted antique Cherokee Indian splint oak storage basket. It has beautiful detailing. With its walnut patterned stripes on the sides. Be sure to notice the square base which morphs to a round body with a slightly flared rim. The basket also features oak-wrapped rims, and a bentwood oak frame. This basket would have been intended for actual use as a storage basket for personal items or foodstuffs. This beautifully woven old(from the early years of the past century) Cherokee Indian splint oak basket will make a terrific addition to someone's collection. The basket is a nice deep size for one of these Cherokee baskets. It measures 10" across at the rim and 10½" deep. Because of its age. 1904 billhead for the Williams Manufacturing Company manufacturers of splint. Bamboo and rattan baskets of Northampton Massachusetts. Nice decorative header and with a center graphic of a picnic basket printed by the Brooks Bank Note Co. Condition– crinkled as it was soaked out of a ledger. Discolored and glue stains. Lucien Williams was born in 1825 in Becket. He became an associate in business with his father Jabin Williams conducting a general store. In 1850. He went into partnership with Roland Barlett under the firm name Bartlett& Williams to manufacturer baskets. The business was successful and was incorporated in 1867 as the Williams Manufacturing Co. Lucien’s son, Henry took over the firm after Lucien’s death in 1895.

Antique New England Painted wood splint gathering basket primitive
This New England gathering basket is 18 inches long. 12 ¼ inches wide and 9 inches tall not including the handle. It is 15 inches tall to the top of the handle. We are not experienced with baskets but we believe this is black ash but please judge for yourself. The basket has some of the splints hand painted blue, brown and red. The handle is hand cut and extends down into the basket for strength. The basket is from New England and we believe it dates to the 19 th century. If not. It dates shortly thereafter. It has some loss to the cross lashing and minor loss to the narrow splints.

Late 19th Century Half Melon Shaped Splint Oak Handwoven Basket
This wooden. Splint-rib, half-melon-shaped basket with a curved handle was historically used for gathering fruit circa 1880-1890. It is highly likely that this handwoven basket originated from one of the Pennsylvanian, Appalachian Mountain communities established in late 19th Century New England. No staples or glue. At least two needle-thin, barely visible nails reinforce the interior where the handle curls over the single-woven rim and through out the belly of the basket's hand-cut splints. Large Old Cherokee Indian Splint Oak Vegetable or Market Basket
Up for auction is a well-crafted old Cherokee Indian splint oak market basket or vegetable gathering basket. It has beautiful detailing. With its walnut-dyed stripes on the sides. The white oak weavers have mellowed to almost the same color as the tinted splints, in fact the whole basket has a beautiful aged patina. The basket also features oak-wrapped rims, and a bentwood oak frame. The bentwood oak handle goes right around to the underside for extra stability and is held in place with one of the unique Cherokee locking splints. This sturdy and well-crafted Cherokee Indian splint oak basket will make a terrific addition to someone's collection. The basket is a nice large size for one of these Cherokee baskets. And certainly has seen its share of honest work. It measures a full 15½" x 11½" across at the rim, 7½" ... moredeep, and 13½" tall to the top of the handle. This basket is in really nice condition for its age, with its only flaw being three missing splints in one corner. Aside from that one issue, this basket has no breaks or other damage, including the rims. The handle is still tight and doesn't wobble. See photos, as they give a true picture of the basket's features and condition. It's a very nice old Cherokee Indian splint oak basket, and remains sturdy enough that it still could be used to tote your vegetables if desired. It is made of brown ash with an old strip of what appears to be crepe paper woven through the curls and tied in a bow. The paper is a bit tattered in spots but is still in one piece. All of the curls and rim wraps are in good condition with no breaks. At one point in time someone attached a piece of gathered cloth to the inside of the basket. It is lightly stitched in place and could be removed if so desired. The blue dye is still visible on the bottom of this little basket measuring 4 1/2 x 2 1/4” The woven sweet grass pincushion measures 3” in diameter and is approximately 1 3/4” tall.
