Up for the auction is this fantastic early office machine in a perfect working condition. It is a macerating check protector created to emboss the dollar amount on the paper check or any other document co that it cannot be altered. It is made of cast iron( looks like the finish is dark brown with some little discoloration on one side- see pic. 4) and still has almost all of gilded decorations on all the sides. Atlas 12" Lathe Headstock Drawbar, Thread Protector, Cast Brackets, Steel Bar
I took this off of an Atlas 12 x 36" Lathe. They were using the lathe as an engraving machine. The bar is 1-1/8" Diameter and 44" Long with a morse taper#3 shank that adds another 3-13/16" It has two cast iron support brackets that have bearings in them. It has a 1-1/2"8TPI thread protector. The drawbar has a 1/2"13 that threads into the tapered end of the bar. The shaft originally had two drums(not included) on it. One held the pattern and the other held the piece that was being worked on.
