This is a 1 foot x 3 foot piece of fishing net we beachcombed on the Washington coast. The diamond pattern measures about 3/4 inch diamonds and the blue poly/nylon cord the netting is made with is about 1/16 inch wide. The edges are uneven but at least the quoted measurements. This stuff is super stretchy so you would need to anchor it on the edges in a few places until it kept its shape. Its very strong! It would look great in a room with a nautical theme. This is a 1890 $1 Treasury Note with the ornate back. If you just want a plain old treasury note. This is not the note for you. You want the 1891 note that is cheaper with the plain back. This is a much tougher and more desirable note. The Freidberg number is 347. This note is graded Fine 15 NET from PMG. The NET means that it would be a higher grade than Fine 15, but PMG reduced the grade because of a split and annotation(writing from the 1800's) You don't have to take my word for the grade of the note. You just have to trust PMG. What does this note have to do with the Wizard of Oz? Back around the turn of the 19th century there was a big debate concerning currency in the United States. We had had the industrial revolution and this country was starting to move away from an agrarian society. Unlike today where we have a fiat currency. ... moreWe had a gold standard. But not everyone was happy with the gold standard. The smaller farmers wanted a bi-matallic standard of silver and gold. Silver was what more of them wanted, and they knew it would cause inflation because of the increasing money supply. They owed money to the New York banks who controlled the amount of gold in circulation and inflation would make their debts somewhat cheaper. These notes were bowing to some of the political pressure of the time. They could be redeemed for either gold OR silver coin. And what does this have to do with the Wizard of Oz? Unlike regular US Government notes. Bank notes were not printed on the finest of cotton-bond paper or with the best of inks. They were not meant to circulate for a long period of time or circulate throughout the nation. They usually circulated on a local or state level, and probably not more then a few years at best. They were printed on whatever paper was available at the time. On some notes one can see some of the wood or pulp chips in the paper. In some cases, they were printed on earlier notes that ... morewere no longer in use. The technology of acid-free paper was not there yet, as seen with some of our national historical documents, and paper was much scarcer than we can today imagine. These notes had to be printed on semi-wet or moist paper, or the ink would not properly adhere. They were very labor intensive, and were printed by hand, one side at a time. They would manually ink the press, place the damp sheet in it, and run the roller over it. The sheet would be hung to dry, and the same process of wetting and printing would be repeated for the reverse. In the case where more than one color was used, the process would have to be repeated for each color. Unpurified water was used in the wetting process, thereby introducing more minerals or impurities to the paper. As a consequence, many of these notes are very difficult to locate without discoloration, color bleeding or what looks like water staining, due to the wetting process. As if that was not enough, they were individually cut with scissors or crude cutting boards, making them very difficult to find with good margins, or the design itself not cut into it. The diamond pattern measures about 3/4 inch squares and the green poly/nylon cord the netting is made with is about 1/16 inch wide. The edges are uneven but you will get a piece with at least the quoted measurements. This stuff is stiff and super stretchy so you would need to anchor it on the edges in a few places until it keeps its shape. Its very strong! Offered are these gorgeous antique cream colored net lace Victorian curtains. There is one pair.two panels. 89" long. 54" wide. I have had them put away for many years. I thought they were perfect until I examined them. You can see in photos 4 and 5& remember this is a close-up.These curtains are so delicate with very fine threading. I'm sure for some handy person this would be no problem at all to fix, their just fine single threads. 1 panel the netting has come undone near top& another very small area toward opposite side top, There is a small repair slightly down from top middle. The other panel, the netting has come undone along the inside of the trim, also a spot 1/4 of the way down close to middle. A green glass fishing float with a 49 1/2" circumference including net and a diameter of 15.75" including the rope net. It is a two piece mold float. There are 3 crack lines ranging 3- 5" in length which probably occurred when the float was removed from the mold and cooled. There are 2 areas where the netting has broken. The first 5 photos were taken inside and photos 6-8 were taken outside on an overcast day. Weighs unpacked 14 pounds 2 ounces. This is a real working float- it is not a reproduction.
