Auctioning off a Real Nice Sport King M/27 Fly/ Casting Bamboo Rod and sock which is in excellent condition. This rod was hand made before WWII because after that Horrocks- Ibbotson didn't use the solid black reel seat. They used marbleized plastic. The windings on all the sections are great, same with the varnish and Tonkin cane. The handle is used on both ends, one for the fly rod and the other end for the casting rod. Avery Bulldog casting from steamer tractor front door **TEETH TALK**
Up for auction is an incredible Avery Bulldog cast iron piece. 9"H X 6"W, that was likely taken from the front flue access door of an Avery steam tractor. It can be fastened to a heavy duty backing, or can be set on a stand to prop it upright on your mantle or in your showcase. It has been totally cleaned and painted, but could easily be re-done if preferred in a different color arrangement. If you are a collector of all things Avery, something like this may never come along again in a long time, if ever. I have no idea of what its value is, so it is being started at $200. I can just imagine how beautiful this brass reel was when new and how it can be again with some work! Has some clever ideas on this reel. Anti reverse button with on off switch and leather line leveler. Reel looks to be complete. End caps measure 4 1/4" in dia. and across is 3" Features the Pflueger Williams working star drag mounted on handle. Looks to have an easily reparable short crack in the possibly bakelite end cap.
