Vintage Silver Electroplate Relish Tray w/3 cut glass inserts, handles, footed
It is in good condition-tarnished. But I assume it would polish up nicely, which I will leave to the buyer. My grandparents gave this to my parents as a gift back in the 1960's. Possibly early 1970's. In her note to my parents, she calls it an electroplate that is almost on the sterling level. I did some research on it and believe it was made by the Raimond Silver Company in Massachusetts. They were in business from 1961-1978. I could not find a manufacturers mark on it. It measures 13.5 x 9.75 inches without the handles and is 18 inches long with the handles. The glass inserts are 3.25 x 7.25 Please examine the photos carefully. However, there are some scratches and some signs of light surface rust on certain areas of the silver plated pieces. A very old and charming condiment server with light purple or violet glass liners wrapped in an ornate silver plated design. The tag underneath simply says: Silver Plated" There are no markings that I was able to see. The glass liners do not slip out and honestly. 3 Sterling Silver Birks Salt Cellars Cobalt Glass Inserts. History of maker: Henry Birks& Sons(Montreal. Quebec, Canada) Established by Henry Birks in 1879. In 1893, the firm name became Henry Birks and Sons. In 1905, it was Incorporated as Henry Birks and Sons Ltd. in 1905. These do not have hallmarks. They have Birks and Sterling which is one of the methods of marking they used on some of their items. These are approx. 1-5/8" across and 1-1/8" tall. I purchased these at a local estate sale. and they had quite a bit of tarnish. I was able to clean them using a high quality sterling silver polish. I was unable to remove all of it. I was still getting alot of the tarnish on the rag when I stopped. Some of the darkening on these is definately tarnish. I am not sure if some of the darkened areas left are possible wear. I talked ... moreto someone who has been dealing in sterling for quite a while and he told me to use very fine steel wool. I do not want to do that and will save any further cleaning decisions to the new owner of these. Please note that some, although not all, of this darkening does not show up on my monitor and may not other monitors. The worst of it in on the insides, however, there is some on the outsides here and there. The cobalt glass inserts are all free of chips and cracks. A couple do have difficulty sliding into the sterling holders with ease for the roughness of the tarnish/possible wear. I gladly combine shipping. UNIQUE ANTIQUE HAND MADE SILVERPLATE CANDLESTICKS WITH COBALT GLASS INSERTS
Here is a one of a kind antique hand made and hand etched silverplate candlesticks with hand blown deep cobalt glass inserts. The tops are cobalt balls. The bottoms are elongated teardrops. The cobalt glass shows through on all 4 sides in arched"windows" Please view all pictures as they are part of the description and describe this gorgeous pair better than my words ever could. These ornate candlesticks are substantial in weight. One is slightly larger than the other both in height and width. Being hand made they are not completely identical. One candlestick stands 9 1/4" in height and the other is 9 1/8" One cobalt ball shows a crack on one side. I am not sure if this happened during the making of the candlestick but it is an old crack. Under a loupe I see dust. The crack is not at all noticeable unless you pick up the ... morestick and look for it. Picture taken. Other than the abovementioned crack the candlesticks are in excellent condition. No dents, scratches, or loss of silverplate. These candlesticks would be a focal point of distinction on any table. Antique silver plate Salt Cellars England EPC Clipper cobalt clear glass inserts
Gorgeous. Ornate antique salt cellars I believe are from the early 1900's. They are a matched set, one deep cobalt blue insert and one clear, the glass is very old and are the original fitted pieces. The marks on the bottom are EPC(electro plate copper) England with a picture of a sailing ship or clipper. Hopefully someone out there will recognize the company, I couldn't find anything. The silver is a nice heavy plating. In great condition, no chips or dents on the silver, the clear insert has a couple of chips on the rim, but it's not cracked. Measure 3.5" wide by 4 3/8" long by 1 7/8" tall. I try to find any defects but I can't guarentee I'll see them all. No returns unless item is not as described. This is an older piece and therefor is no longer perfect as the day it was made. Insurance and delivery ... moreconfirmation will be added to the cost of shipping. Save on combined shipping.
