The glass pitcher(4"x8"x6" you are bidding on was a prized award across the country as they were given for consecutive years of"accident free" operation. In the chemical business four(4) years of accident free operation was a masterful accomplishment. These pitchers were prominently displayed in office and entrances to Dupont factories across the country. This is a lovely collectible and has some history behind it. This sale is for 1 x-ray glass slide. 19 30-40's. Of a child 8 months old who swallowed an open safety pin. Caught at the bottom portion of the esophagus, it is clearly seen in t he x-ray. Being in the X-ray profession I have a good knowledge about these items. X-rays were discovered in the 1890's by a man named Roentgen. Pronounced"rankin" He was using a glass vacuum called a Crooke's Tube when he noticed phosphorescent material on the other side of the room. X being the sign for the unknown he named them x-rays. He was the first recipient of a nobel prize in physics for this invention. His first real x-ray was of his wifes hand. Until the 40's glass x-ray slides like these were used. Because they lose their clarity in light. They are best stored in a dark area for safe keeping. There are only a few. Descent glass ... morex-rays left because of storage issues and improper handling. Before this over 90% of these children who went to surgery would die of the operation but because of x-ray, tools were invented to non-evasively remove these foreign object without any surgery. This is an example of an x-ray that saved many children's lives and document the end of the glass x-ray slide era. Overall this is in great condition for a glass x-ray and is around 70 years old. This is a'NOS' Glass Dome for an industrial type ceiling fixture. This was made by GE for use on their Luminaire Perma-Gard fixtures. And has a thread for screwing onto the base. This measures 7 1/2 in. tall by 5 1/2 in. across the bottom. This also includes the cage for the dome: the'Globe Guard' or safety cage accessory made of metal and still loosely wrapped in plastic. This has light handling wear. Murray vintage fuse box with glass fuses and Murray Safety Switch box with glass fuses. They show wear and tear with paint loss and dirt and dents. Still would be great for display. They were painted that great retro green color. Switch box is about 5" x 7" x 2 1/2" and fuse box is about 7" x 7" x 2 1/2" Quite heavy but they will both fit in a flat rate box. Top is Red Glass(not plastic) used and overall good condition: The entire fixture is about 7 inches tall. This is a very modern style of light. It has a quick release top to access the light bulb. It has a threaded hole that you cant ake a 1 inch standard threaded pipe and screw into the light fixture. The light uses standard light bulb thread. You can put in a standard house light bulb including a short CFL bulb. The light is very easy to get electric power to. You take your power wires wrap around the 2 screws/ tighten and that will give power to the bulb. This would be great for towers or even a table lamp in your home: Condition notes: Overall light ... moreis used and good condition. There are 2 very small nick's or chips on the side of the globe- see picture with fingers pointing to the marks. These marks in glass are only on the surface- no major damage to the glass or cracks. The glass globe has lots of white dots or marks- may be paint overspray or something simular. Only the surface effected- again no major problem with glass globe. The rubber ring is in great condition, not cracked/not dry. Threads in the aluminum base are in perfect condition- not stripped. Slight redish tower paint overspray on the alum base. There is a small cord that attaches the top light to the base so when changing the bulb the top stays attached. Overall again light is in used but good condition- pics show these conditions very well. The light bulbs are in picture for example only- no lights. No electrical wiring& no 1 inch pipes included. It is either made of glass or lead crystal. It is very heavy, so my guess is lead crystal. It is about 7 1/4" high, 5" wide and is about 2" thick at the base. Vintge Red Glass Lamp Lantern Oakford Marine? Safety Railroad Train? Light
This is a Vintage Lantern or Lamp. It is marked OAKFORD on the metal base. The glass is thick and red in color. It is marked 9S 3129 TYPE- O. It has a loop handle and wire cord(that has been cut from where it must have originally been attached to) It is heavy. I have seen something similar that were made for railroad trains and marine ships. Maybe this in another type used for either of those? I am not sure and you may know more than I about this item. It is older. Possibly from around the 1960's to 70's. It is in good condition, no rust but it has that used metal look and odor. The glass is solid, no cracks.
