Vintage Art Silver Co Silver-Pate Double Butter Dish with Glass Inserts
This is a vintage silver plate double covered butter dish. It is rimmed in a gadroon edge interspersed with an acanthus leaf and flower decorating the corners and centerpoints on the edge. This is in very nice condition with some minor surface scratches from use and cleaning and a worn spot on one of the centered flowers. There are a couple of spots on the inside of the bowls that would be under the glass inserts. Nothing really that takes away from the overall look. Think it is silverplate. Measures nearly a foot across. 7 1/2" to top of handle& approx 7 1/4" across center. Glass inserts are in good condition, middle one has a couple of wee, no see chips. The very old basket should be beautiful cleaned up, although the intricate edging has some disconnects& bends, but not real noticeable. I have a very nice vintage 4 clear glass inserts and 1 center clear glass bowl for your lazy susan tray. Beautiful ribbed design pattern on all. Ribbing all on the outside. Slick on the inside. Inserts measure 8 1/2" from outside corner and 4" from inside corners. Bowl is 5" in diameter x 2 1/2" deep. All very thick glass. In wonderful condition for there age 1950's to early 1960's. There is one insert that does have a slight nick on the inside of where they connect, you can feel it slightly, hard to see. Does not take away the beauty of this vintage piece. Very thick glass. This is a very unique item. A sand hour glass. Actually, it is a 2 and a half hour, glass timer. It stands 24"tall and is 12" across the wooden top and bottom. Each end depicts a nature scene painted on a ceramic circle. Great for an end table and excellent as a conversation piece. They are marked PRESTO and there are also some other markings including the Good Housekeeping Institute information. The serial number is also on the lids- 2285. Also included are 8 glass inserts. They each measure about 3 1/4" in diameter. They are marked PRESTO with the Pat. 17562. CONDITION: The metal lids are in very good condition. There is some darkening or discoloration on some of them.
