The BIN price is for one(1) of the pictured antique latches and keepers. The latches and keepers are heavier than most you’ll come across. These are usually referred to as utility latches because of the wide range of uses. I’ve seen these used on transom windows, cabinets, casement windows almost anyplace you’d like to use a unique looking latch. The latch and keeper will work on either right or left hand side of door or window. The latches are cast iron and the keepers are steel. The condition is very good with the latches having age darkening dings and scratches and loss of finish from age. All I did to these was a quick wiping down with an oiled rag. The approximate measurements of the latch base is 2 1/8” x 1 1/8” The handle or grasp is 2 ½” The keeper is 1 ½” wide x 1 7/8” Free first class shipping in a padded envelope. Please check out my other latches I have listed. Oil has been applied but they should have a final cleaning and clear coated or painted for continued protection. Please take a look at the many other antique hardware items I have listed. My pictures are large because I not only want to tell you what you’re getting but also for you to see what you’re getting. CONDITION: There is a lot of little rips and natural aging around the edges of the transmission form. But still in pretty good shape. You can pretty much see the condition of this item in the picture. This old paper item is in Fair+ condition for it's age. I am not an expert grader. Up for auction are a pair of vintage antique brass plated metal casement transit window architectural hardware recently found at auction in the suburban Philadelphia. PA area. They are found in good used condition, are metal and attract a magnet. This hardware is brass platted or finished and retains quite a bit of its off white painted surface. They measure approximately 9 1/2" in size. The paint should be easily stripped off if not needed. Great for any steampunk style project as well. Thorn Aluminum Casement Window operators 6 total plus 4 for parts HARD TO FIND
Looking from the inside there are 4 rights side and two left side operators that are complete and in good functional condition. I am including 4 more that are a little choppy but still might work for you in a pinch or maybe use the handles to finish out your own. I did a restoration on a house and these were replaced with another brand that I did not like as much as these old solid originals. Now they are obsolete all together now so if you need some of these Thorn 3 screw version than you will be happy you found my auction. zither antique by world famous Georg Tiefenbrunner Muenchen, casement has crack
This very old zither belonged to my grandmother and hasn't been out of its box since 30 years. It still has it's original label by it's maker George Tiefenbacher which pretty much determines that is was made between 1840 and 1880. It needs restoration. The casement has two larger and two smaller cracks in the front and 1 larger and two smaller cracks in the back. The box it is the original one and looks its age. There is a tool and a couple of strings in the box too. The first three zither makers to gain world fame had once been neighbors? Yet Georg Tiefenbrunner(1812- 1880) Anton Kiendl(1816– 1871) and Johann Haslwanter(1824- 1884) were all born within 12 years of each other in or near the alpine village of Mittenwald. Mittenwald’s centuries old fame rests of course on its violin production. That it later became a production ... morecenter for the(at that time rather lowly) zither is an interesting story we’ll get into another time. For now, let it be said that there was considerable expertise in stringed instrument making in Mittenwald at the beginning of the 19th century. Thus, it was not just by chance that the three first outstanding zither makers grew up there. Georg Tiefenbrunner was born in Mittenwald in 1812. Six years after Bavaria had been transformed from a duchy into a kingdom. Napoleon still dominated the political scene in Europe, and it was just seven years since little Mittenwald had been a scene of conflict, under constant harrassement to deliver supplies(food, rooms, horses) to whichever army happened to be in the vicinity. Tiefenbrunner was a common family name among the violin makers in Mittenwald at that time. Georg. Very likely, spent all his afterschool hours in one of the family or neighboring violin workshops, engaged in all the little tasks Mittenwald boys were then responsible for: carrying, stacking, varnishing(the first coats) polishing, keeping the fire in the stove going, hanging up the violins outside to dry, etc. He learned a lot. Of course he wanted to become a violin maker.
