1920's?? Cast Iron Porcelain Farmhouse Basement Kitchen Utility Sink
This auction is for a vintage cast iron porcelain farmhouse utility sink. It measures 23" to the top of the backsplash. 15" tall on the sides, 21" on the inside from the back to the front and 23" side to side on the inside. We think it's from the 1920's by looking at the 11 24 23 mark on the back. It was in the home of an elderly neighbor since at least the thirties. There is nothing broken, but it needs to be cleaned and has a small crack in the porcelain at the bottom. It is located in Madison NJ 07940. We accept PayPal. Emery's Cafeteria. Basement Rex Theatre- Salt Lake City, UTAH: The Bungalow Hotel was built in 1908 and the Bungalow Theatre was housed in the hotel. It 1909 it was renamed the Lyceum Theatre. In 1912 it went through a total transformation, receiving an new facade, twin box offices, and complete internal updates. At this time it was renamed the Rex Theatre. The Rex Theatre was a junior vaudeville and motion picture theatre. By 1918 it was renamed the Strand Theatre and lasted as a motion picture theatre until the early-1950’s. The building eventually became the Axelrod furniture store and now houses the Tivoli Gallery with apartments above the gallery. Nice cast iron white porcelain 36" farm sink. The porcelain has scratches. Scuff marks and some black specks in the basin. There are some pock marks and flea bites in random spots across the porcelain. The front rim has excessive chips from corner to corner we have touched in these areas with BIN primer to prevent rusting(the last picture below shows what it looked like before the bin was added) Overall it is in good usable condition. Powell's is offering the last of his John E. Green collection! Green was an African American who served in the army with the 24th Infantry in late 1898 until 1901. He was commissioned while serving in the Philippine Islands all of his commissioned service was with the 25th Infantry regiment from 1901 until he retired in 1928! His military service took him all over the US and Hawaii. And Africa. The collection includes(1) 2nd Lt's undress blue tunic with pants and his model 1912 cap plus his black officers shoes. Painted 4th ID Liner, Great Markings, Normandy Unit, Fresh from Estate Basement!
Other than a couple of pocket bibles this was the only military thing in the estate. It is crusty. But we have not even wiped it off. The 4th Infantry Division ivy is painted on the front along with corporal stripes. Back of the liner has what appears to be an officer recognition bar. Edged in green. We have no idea what this means given the chevrons on front, but it is what it is! Field promotion? Inside webbing is salty. Dusty, broken and includes a couple of cob webs from the basement! Crown is marked with Westinghouse symbol and 37. We see that the sweatband is in backwards, but will leave it that way. Original owner initials painted inside as seen. Unfortunately we were not able to verify a name. If you like your artifacts just as found and ready to clean up. This one is for you. Powell's is offering the Army Commission of Chaplain Theophilus Gordon Steward who served in the 25th Infantry from 1890 until 1911 when retired. Steward was the 3rd black chaplain appointed and the 1st born as a freeman. The commission is signed by President B. F. Harrison. The commission is not in the best condition but some TLC this will display very well in any museum or collectors display area.
