Up for auction is the RARE model. From STAR MFG, of their commercial hot dog cooker. This was in very good condition when I originally purchased it. The first owner did paint the steel bottom a silver color. I did disassemble this and repainted it a FIRE ENGINE RED. This was painted with"high heat" paint so the temperature will not affect the new paint job. All parts are original, and I do believe this is complete. The heating element was cleaned and the electronics were checked; all works great. This heats up very hot within a few minutes. The steel base has been painted. The sides and corners are stainless steel with very little visible wear. The 3 piece top is aluminum and that has also been painted the FIRE ENGINE RED. All glass panels are also original. The control knob is cracked but does not affect the function. No directions ... moreare included. The original cord does also have a tiny split which again does not affect the function or safety. 2006 STAR MFG Co Commercial Countertop Hot Dog Dogger Cooker 35SSA
This is a Star Mfg Co hot dog cooker that is stainless steel with a plexiglass display main body door. A well made unit it is 14.5" X 16" X 16" tall so it is compact for a countertop or anywhere you want to make money! We have owned this since 2008 and it was made in 2006 and it was used at our lake house during large family get togethers. We just used it Mothers Day and it worked flawlessly the whole day! Nice thing about it was I am a bit of a clean freak so after every use it was torn apart and completely cleaned and dried so the elements were never soaking in water for days. Still made by STAR today the 35SSA is one of the companies work horses as it is large enough to hold a lot of product yet only takes up a 16" cube area. Heck we were able to keep it in a regular size kitchen cabinet when not in use! We were able ... moreto do about 40 dogs and 24 buns but we were constantly rotating new product in and out so it wasnt like we would let the food run out then load it ect. We were the hit with the local kids and neighbors too as we fed each person for about $20 per dog! Of course it will need wiped down prior to use as it has been in storage. Chrome is quite nice with just 2 little marks. Nothing serious at all. This is actually in amazing condition. Original 1940's cloth bound electrical cord. I tested it and it heats, the clock-style mechanical timer on the front works fine and the hot dog release activates when the timer stops. This unit comes complete with the upper drip pan. The wire bun basket and the perforated water tray cover. This unit comes hinged at the sides and has a knob screw on the right hinge for removing the entire top for cleaning. This unit is in good used condition and will function as it should when you sit it on top of your Glenray model 56 hot dog machine. This unit has not been cleaned or disinfected. It will need both before it is used for any kind of food preparation. This Glenray hot dog bun warmer measures 6 1/2 inches tall. At the base. It measures 12 1/4 inches wide and 14 1/2 inches deep. There are some scratches and wear on the main metal Glenray emblem. Vintage / Antique Hot dog Cooker w/ Bun Warmer WORKS 100%
I have tested it with a spliced cord and it works 100% What you have here is what can only be described as a antique hot dog conveyor oven and bun warmer. I say can only be desribed as I don't know the history or it's true function. The owner of it passed and no one else in the family knew anything about it. I also can't find anything on this vast World wide web of ours about it either. What I do know is it was manufactured by The Morse Instrument Company and it's a model#280 and the series box is blank. Researching the company I've found that they started off as a photographic equipment company and later a marine part manufacturer. The company was sold in 1969 and the name was changed to Morse Controls so this piece is Pre-1969 and as far as I can tell may very well be the only one in existence. At the very least it's ... morethe only one on the internet that's for sure. This is one VERY cool piece of equipment. If you notice there is a lid that opens on top where you would place the hot dogs on the conveyor. They would then work their way down and around the conveyor and eventually dumped off into the bottom. It is very well taken care of for it's age. The only things that appear to be missing is what appears to be a thermostat on the front and the power cord. I will be in search of at the very least a power cord for it while it's in my possesion. Whether you are a equipment collector or restaurant owner this would be one exceptional converstation piece.
