Very nice vintage RCA Institute RF Signal Generator. From what I can gather. This signal generator was provided as a kit with the RCA Institute training course. RCA made some very good signal generators back in the 1950's and 60's so I would expect that this is a good, basic piece of equipment. It is extremely clean(looks almost new) and comes with the test leads. All knobs turn very easily. The only testing Ive done is to power it up(the red jewel lights) so it is being sold as is. Up for sale we have a nice Knight model KG-686 RF signal generator. This is a nice heavy duty vintage unit in good operating condition. I just got done aligning the frequency ranges on it as they had drifted over the years a bit from the dial. Can output a straight RF signal as pictured on the oscilloscope or has a built in modulation selector where you can use the internal modulation or use external modulation. The modulated signal is the second oscilloscope picture. Front panel controls are pretty straight forward and is a very easy unit to use. Has a standard BNC 50 ohm output connection. Not banana jacks like many older units do. This is a fully solid state unit, not tube type. The only thing I had to do to it was install a new power jack in the back. The old one was broken. A modern socket has been installed and the unit comes with the ... morematching power cord. Overall this is a nice unit for the age and built like a tank, weighs darn near 14 pounds before packing. The clear plexi pointer dial is in very good condition with no cracks and the OD wrinkle paint is in good condition except for chips here and there as you can see in the pictures. The RF output and power cords are in very good condition with no rot or cracks. The generator works very well. But I cannot guarantee a 60+ year old piece of equipment will keep working 24/7 for 2 weeks under any condition, therefore I am selling this AS-IS and with no returns. I am sure that you will be happy with this unit! I really hate to sell this as I really like this signal generator and it has served me well, but I just have too much stuff and I only need one signal generator!
