Here is an absolutely superb antique hand worked bobbin lace centrepiece. A real treasure to display. Use and cherish. It is worked in a cream cotton and it is in wonderful condition. The cloth measures approx 55 cms square(22" Although I sell a lot of vintage linens I am not an expert. I try to thoroughly research before I sell so that I can describe the linens accurately. This wonderful centrepiece looks like Irish needle lace but I would love find out for sure. The square pieces measure just 1 3/8" x 1 3/8" It is hand quilted at 7-8 stitches per inch and has quilted grid work with squares that measure between 3/4" x 3/4" and 1" x 1" It is hand bound. It measures 38 1/2" x 37 3/4" This crib quilt is in amazing condition. It only has a tiny nick in the binding and a lentil size spot on the back as shown in the photos. Small Wood Square Living Room Occasional Table Octagon Base Burl? Inset Maple?
Very pretty. Very high craftsmanship. I don't really know how to identify wood. This is a beautiful hardwood table. My inclination is to call it maple, but I don't really know. The square top has an inset of a burled kind of wood. I can't find indication of it being a laminate, it looks solid, but again I'm no expert. The base is certainly well constructed of multiple sections of hardwood, and the construction yields a very solid table. It is fairly heavy for its size. Look closely at the pictures as they verify its quality. The down side is the finish on the wood. It appears to have had some moisture issues somewhere in its life. There is a milky hazing noticeable when viewing it from the the proper angle. I believe the only true remedy is refinishing. But in my opinion it is not bad enough to worry about and the table should ... morebe used and enjoyed as is. The octagon base really gives this little table character. The table can be found on page#217 of the 1990 Ethan Allen Treasury of American Home Interiors catalog. This particular table was manufactured in 1989 and measures 38" wide x 38" wide x 17" high and is in excellent overall condition. There are a few light scratches and dings mostly on the top and low on the feet.
