Lovely C1890-1900 Antique handmade banquet size linen tablecloth with 12 matching dinner napkins. The tablecloth measures 131" x 65" The napkins are 16" square. The tablecloth has embroidered snails with drawnwork all over and is edged all the way around with a wide burato and filet lace border. Again with snails and other creatures. The embroidered snails are done with a slightly tan thread which matches the color of the napkins. Both the table cloth and the napkins are monogrammed MDG. The four corners have tassel ends. The condition is very good. There are a very few scattered breaks in the net of the lace border. One of the napkins has a faint stain. 100 YEAR OLD" OFF-WHITE LINEN TABLECLOTH + 8 NAPKINS When we downsized from 3200 to 1600 square feet and moved to a retirement community. We sold all excess items on eBay. Since moving here, we have found there are many who want to dispose of items they have collected over the years that either their children don't want, they are downsizing again, or they need to raise the money. We are thankful that we can offer these prized items on eBay so they can continue to be enjoyed. This beautiful tablecloth belonged to a woman in her 70s. She said ie was her mother's and is over 100 years old. I have no idea how to judge the age of old linen and took many pictures. It measures 62 x 80 inches. There are 8 napkins that measure 15 1/2 inches. The napkins have embroidery only in one corner as you will notice in the picture; however. The ... moretablecloth has embroidery over the entire surface. I washed it gently(no bleach) and pressed it myself. I did not find any broken threads. Everything appears to be in good condition; however, it is lightly yellowed, some more places than others. This does not show in the pictures and is very light. I have no idea whether it would bleach out or if bleach even should be used. The napkins are lightly yellowed but no significant spots. This beautiful and very sturdy tablecloth and napkins can be used just the way it is now and will make a dramatic impression at any fancy dinner party or just to show off your fina furniture and china. Somewhere between the 2 colors shown in pics, never laundered, it will lighten quite a bit once laundered. An antique linen handmade punchwork mosaic lace banquet tablecloth having fruit as the primary pattern. Hand embroidered/embroidery floral sprays& surrounds in an ivory satin stitch. Sometimes padded. Corners have a mosaic pattern of large grapes, pears& leaf punchwork design, between the corners at ends an apple or maybe pomegranite fruit, large cherry punchwork pattern on the long edges in center& those fabulous cherries in the center of cloth pattern. 1 2 m atching napkins having the apple punchwork in 1 corner. 1" handworked hemstitch all around. Napkins ... morehave a 1/2" hemstitch. Tablecloth approx. 106" x 64" Napkins approx. 17" square. Linen will likely shrink some in 1st wash. Very skilled handwork throughout. Some of the hand embroidery details were actually never finished on this cloth. Little lines within the fruits, perhaps some padded stitch spots, etc. see some of the detail pics for examples) I leave it to the new owner to finish them if desired. Once cleaned up though this set would be fabulous as is. Linen is a tight weave& a heavy-ish weight. Possibly homespun, just not sure. This cloth has never been used or laundered& it has quite a bit of age related& stor ag e spotting! I have shown examples of the spotting but not all I'm sure. I am confident that with soaking& wash they will lighten significantly or come out entirely. It may take multiple r ounds of soaking. There are also still pencil markings on the linen which likewise will come out. I have actually used a soft eraser in the past to remove as much as possible before soaking. Light brown thread on ecru cotton. There is one table runner, 16" X 40" 8 place mats, 10" X 16" and 8 napkins, 16" square. This handwork, rarely seen on eBay, has its origin in China, and is called Chee Foo or sometimes Chi'h Fu. It is nearly identical in construction to Italian Punto di Venezia/ Point de Venise needle lace and embroidery. But much more complex. This is precision, master embroidery and lace, with very tightly joined floral motifs. Here is a very charming vintage set of 4 white top quality Irish linen placemats with 4 matching napkins which feature a printed pattern of lilacs. Each placemat and each napkin bears a tag, Made in West Germany for B. Altman& Co New York" Placemats measure 17 X 11 inches, napkins 11-1/2 inches square. This set was severely age discolored and has been soaked almost immaculate amazingly. A few faint smudgey areas linger here and there and should come out next wash. Nothing significant. No rips, holes, tears. A top and fine quality linen for the table.

You are viewing a lovely Madeira hand embroidered appliqued organdy table runner. Seven placemats, and four napkins. There is a very light stain on the runner which is so difficult to see, and next to impossible to photograph. There are no holes in any of the pieces. The only other issue I could find is some light browning along many of the edges of the appliqued flowers- I've taken close-ups- it's probable that these are storage stains, and would soak out- the set was starched, and they have been tucked away in a closet for a long time. With a charming illustration of a woman in a feathered hat with a dripping paintbrush, AND Designs by M. A. Hadley Deco Paper Products, Inc. Louisville 3, Kentucky. Cheerful horses are done in blue. Green and orange. Each of them is wearing a hat and kicking up its heels like it's doing a little jig. The body is boldly marked with a four leaf clover near the back. A three leaf clover on the neck and a lucky horseshoe in the middle. Artwork is of course done by the famous M. A. Mary Alice) Hadley. Given the single digit postal code for Louisville, Kentucky and the history for both Ms. Hadley and Deco Products, I believe these are from the late 1940s to 1950s. The box also shows some wear and tear- see additional photos. Exterior shows general handling and storage wear and scratches. Brown spot on the plastic near the top edge of the box is likely residue from an old price sticker. Paper napkins within look to be in good shape with some rippling on the top ones. There is no mention of the size of each napkin. There are supposed to be 35 of them in the box. It looks like the box was originally printed to hold 40 or so- I can't see through the new label for 35 which has been pasted over it. Box measures about 8.75 inches by 8.5 inches and is just over 2 inches thick. Weight of the box and contents is just over 13 ounces. Twelve antique linen napkins with lace, cutwork, embroidery (Italian)
A gorgeous set of antique linen napkins with pointed lace all round; a beautiful cutwork design in the corner with embroidery and two flowers in reticella work. These napkins are from Italy. They are in wonderful condition. There are 10 matching and another two with a little different design in the corner. The lace is the same on all of them so I wanted to group them into a set of twelve. The colors of white are not all the same; some more white than others. An exceptionally beautiful set of 10 pure linen damask napkins. Each has an ML monogram framed with a hand embroidered geometric frame of hens. Traditionally these napkins were used at tea time. Approximate size is 12" x 11½" Excluding the tassels which are about 1½" long. The ML monogram measures about 2½" x 1" and is framed by this very beautiful and unusual hand embroidery. Antique Chinese Linens from an estate! This week I am offering several lot of antique linens from the estate of the granddaughter of a man who often traveled to he far east in the 1910s and 20s. This auction is for a set of 4 embroidered linen placemats with a slightly larger mat that can serve a center placemat/ doily/ mini runner. The lot also includes 6 napkins. The placemats are 10" x 15 1/2" The larger mat measures 12" x 17 1/2" and each napkin is about 14" square. A couple of the napkins have very minor yellowing. In general this lot is in excellent condition.
