Collection of VERY OLD bottle and dinnerware parts SEAGLASS Surf-Tumbled Lot of 5/ G 72 These amazing old sea glass pieces were found on the Southern Side of the Staten Island shore in New York. Historically. This area is very interesting as after the Civil War it began to prosper as a resort: hotels, bars, wooden piers and seasonal bungalows were developed along the cost line. By the 1950’s, most of the properties were demolished to prepare for the Shore Front Drive which was planned to be built along the shore as a part of the master plan of Robert Moses. Since the highway has never been built, the coastal strip still keeps some historical remains in the form of ground bottle and pottery pieces and shattered parts of once prosperous resort. All of the pieces are very old and some noticably have a different texture of an old times glass(quiet ... moredifferent than modern glass) Very interesting that sea glass with pale amethyst or light purple hue is more than 100 years old. It’s known that from the late 19th Century to the 1910s manganese dioxide was commonly used as clarify¬ing agent(to make glass clear) It was later observed that glass containing manganese began to change from clear to an amethyst color when exposed to the UV light from the sun. Early in the 20th Century other compounds gained popularity as clarifying agents as they were more effective in the mass-produced bottle making process. So. Pale amethyst or light purple sea glass can be dated back to at least the beginning of 20th century. All 5 were hand selected to be chosen in this lot. Every piece can be used for creative jewelry or other projects: jewelry making. Offered for sale is 34 pieces of green pottery made by Stetson China dinnerware Company. Each piece is hand made and under glazed in a triangle shape. There is: 6-dinner plates-10 1/4" 8-salad plates-7 7/8" 7-bread& butter plates-6 3/8" 8-rimmed bowls-7 3/4" 5-saucers-5 7/8" Anyway you measure these pieces the size is the same all around the triangle. Every piece is hand signed by JL Forbes. Excellent condition with no chips or cracks. Slight utensil marks on the dinner and salad plates. Insurance is included in shipping price with tracking information free. Winner will receive two boxes due to packaging and weight. There is the original paperwork. You are bidding on: A PAIR OF VINTAGE TO ANTIQUE GILDED FLORAL CHINA DINNERWARE SERVING PIECES. LARGE LIDDED TUREEN AND SERVING PLATTER, CIRCA 1910 FROM THE EAST LIVERPOOL OHIO POTTERY WORKS. Here's a GORGEOUS pair of early 20th century serving pieces; two different manufacturers from the same collectible era in a matching pattern. The large serving platter was produced by the Colonial Company of East Liverpool. Ohio(1903-1930) with the eagle/bell mark indicating manufacture sometime between 1915-30. Measures a full 15 1/2" by 12" The very massive tureen does not have a ladle. But has the handled lid in wonderful condition(extremely hard to find without breaks or repairs) measures about 10 1/2" diameter and stands 6 inches tall including the handle. W.K.C. C. Co. indicates Warner-Keffer China Co of East Liverpool(1908-1912) ... moreAlthough they are different manufacturers. You can see the pattern matches perfectly- artisans of this region and period moved between shops regularly, and the patterns and molds went with them. Best known for its historic presence at the center of the American pottery industry. The East Liverpool area is still home to three major potteries: the Hall China Company, Pioneer Pottery, and the Homer Laughlin China Company(located just across the river in Newell, West Virginia) A very important period and region in the history of American wares, the city is today home to a quite famous museum of ceramics. You get 4- 10" dinner plates. 4- 7 3/4" across salad plates, 4- 6 1/4" across dessert plates, 4- 7 1/2" across soup bowls, 4- 5 1/8" across berry bowls, 4- 3 5/8" across butter pats, 4- 2 5/8" high and 3 3/4" across coffee cups and 4- 6" across coffee cup saucers. All pieces have no chips or cracks and are in good condition. All pieces appear unused. Gorgeous set and the butter pats are very hard to find in this pattern.
