For your consideration is an antique Surgeon's field lancet/scalpel. Quite an usual piece from the 19th century. Has a hollow handle and removable top revealing a wooden piece that holds three interchangeable surgical lancets. There is one extra lancet in addition to the one attached. The original blade will not come off. There appears to be a cap missing from the bottom. Early 1800s folding scalpel with horn handle
In the photo on the left. Note that the horn covering is chipped off from the screw to the end of the handle and in the photo to the right a small piece of the horn is missing. The scalpel is otherwise in pretty good condition. It opens easily and the blade is completely intact. The blade is 3 inches long. On one side, going across the base of the blade is an engraved name I cannot completely make out even with a magnifier. It appears to be"EDWUS_hg_ The first blank could a numeral 1; the second I can't make out. There is a"double dot" symbol above the U and below the word what appears to be a trident symbol. I was not able to determine the manufacturer.

EARLY EUROPEAN ARTIST'S/SCALPEL Post WWI Era FAUX GERMAN ROE DEER HANDLE W/ORNATE HANDLE RECEIVER Early European Artist-Sculptures Knife/Scalpel W/Faux Roe Deer Horn Handle 6-3/16" Length 1920's ~ 1940's era. This is a very old Artist Knife/Scalpel and I believe it's from the Stalin Era somewhere in the Baltics. It's 6-3/16" inches in overall length and it has a swaged 1-3/16" Blade with an ornate handle receiver. The Faux handle is that of a young German buck Roe deer I believe. It has signs of aging and the material it is made of is beginning to chip in a few areas around the Faux Roe Deer horn handle. The short 1-3/16" blade is darkening which is typical of HC Steel and it has a full swage on one edge and the edge on the other which needs to be professionally sharpened to recover it's scalpel ... moreabilities.
