vtg Lot 4 Optical Flats Flat Optical Engineer Estate Mirror Reflector Plates NR
This is a lot of 4 optical flats that came from the estate of an optical engineer for Owens-Illinois. I know virtually nothing about them. And none of them are marked or signed.so I don't know who made them, or how accurate they were made. The three round ones have no chips or damage, the cube has a couple of small chips on the one side's top and bottom edge, and the aluminum reflective surface on the mirrored one has some flaking to the reflective surface as pictured. One is in a DoAll box, the other in a shipping type crate and the other in a nice custom made box, but not indication anywhere about their brands. Sizes are as follows.cube is 2 inches square. It was at one time certified to 1/2 light and each side I am not sure if it still meets this spec but it was tested against a known good optical flat and it looked to be very close to the 1/2 light and spec. MAKE SURE YOU ASK QUESTIONS BEFORE YOU BID! This was in a box of stuff I bought at an auction. I do not know anything optical flats. Be sure to look at the pictures and ask any questions. Roughly 4" X 4" X 15/16" Has scratches on surface and some chips off the corners. It looks like it should be resurfaced, but I don't really know anything about optical flats to begin with. Be sure to look at the pictures. I contacted a company that resurfaces optical plates and sent them these pictures and they responded: It looks like the area with the voids is an edge that will not have contact with the pitch plate. Again. It looks like the chips do not affect the optical flat, but the surface may need to be resurfaced.
