Scarce Primitive 2 Drawer Wooden Tiger Oak Globe Card Catalogue
Really neat piece in as found condition. I’ve tried to show condition. Some stains, piece of wood missing off the back, felt pads loose. It still displays very well, is super solid with nice dove tail construction. It would benefit from a cleaning but I like the used look! It is 9 3/8” tall, 12” deep, and 7 3/8” wide. This listing is for a nice vintage cabinet by the Yawman and Erbe It is a one-drawer example. With the original brass drawer pull, and brass tag that reads"Y and E" It has the original adjustable sliding card holder in the drawer. Everything operates smoothly, the back however is missing(see picture) and there is some paint splatter on the front. These files were in common use in the early part of the 20th century in libraries, schools, and offices and were built to last. This example has wonderful quartersawn oak wood grain patterns and quality dovetailed construction with a few small cracks on the sides from over the years, but does not affect the overall condition. The dimensions of this file are approx. 7.5" wide by 16" deep by 10.5" tall.quite a bit taller than a standard card catalog. The mahogany finish is original with a good patina. The original beveled mirror tilts at various angles to accomodate one who is shaving. The dovetailed drawer has the original pulls to it. The storage compartment on the bottom is unusual in that this type stand usually does not have this feature. It also has its original hardware. The stand is sturdy and tight. I have found no repairs. The marble top has several cracks but overall the piece is still in fairly good condition. A very nice antique piece of furniture. It measures about 78 inches tall counting the mirror and is about 45 1/2 x 21 inches wide.
