Up for auction is this vintage and complete- 6 player- FORSTER CROQUET SET in original carry/storage bag. This set is being sold- as is as found. It is in near mint condition, with the only issue being the bag is a bit dirty and shows some wear from being stored in the garage. I don't believe this set was ever used. The balls are clean and shiny, look as if they were never hit. The set includes the 6 mallets that measure 28 1/2 inches long with the heads measuring almost 9 inches across. The mallets are clean, sturdy wood with no chips, cracks or breaks; there are colorful stripes at the top of the handle and on each side of the mallet head. Heads are capped with white plastic, clean and show no wear from use. Also included are 4 red flags on metal posts- they are clean and show great graphics- marked CROQUET FORSTER. Vintage Japanese Glass Floats - Storage Unit Find! Lot Of 21
I recently won a storage unit in the Seattle area at auction. Original owner had the unit since mid 80's and was(among other things) a pilot in Alaska an Hawaii. My best guess was this guy found these floats on the beach in Alaska. There are 21 balls in all. 19 are about the size of an orange and 2 are about the size of a tangerine. As you can see from the photos. 4 still have netting on them(and another few looked like they had netting on while list at sea(based of wear marks) Several have marks where sea life grew. Most- if not all- have bubbles in the glass. As you an also see from the pics. Several have marks stamped at the end. One peculiar one(last one in the photos) has water in it- which is odd because the original storage unit owner had not been in slide of his unit for several years. A far a wear goes. The trim around the lid looks like solid wood to me. Note that I haven't oiled. Polished or touched this piece up so you can see the true condition. What few scuffs are on it should hide nicely with some stain or cover up oil. The lid has a black vinyl covered cushion on one side that is in excellent shape. It doesn't have any stains or holes. You can reverse the lid to reveal a checkerboard for game playing. This is really a neat piece! If it matched my décor I would keep it to use. Inside there's storage for game pieces. The bottom has four stainless rollers so it will roll around easily. I grew up with my mother and father cooking some fabulous meals on this vintage Tappan Stove. It has many fond memories for me and I cooked some of my first meals on this stove. Unfortunately unbeknown to me it was placed outdoors and so has become a restoration project but is an incredible piece of nostalgia well worth the investment of funds and time. From Wikipedia. The free encyclopedia Tappan appliances was founded by W.J. Tappan as the Ohio Valley Foundry Company in Bellaire. Ohio in 1881 selling cast-iron stoves door-to-door.
