This is A 5 shelves erector set in solid wood box-probably from the 1920's or 1930's. The shelves fit perfectly in the box which assures me it is the original box for this set. 3 of the shelves have little wooden handles to hold while lowering the shelf in the box. A couple of the small wooden pieces are missing. But it is very easy to remove and insert the shelves. Not sure if it's Erector or Mercano despite my research with Greenberg and the internet. Many of the pieces Can be found in the inventory list from Erector 1929. It has many unusual gears. Worm gears,propeller and wheels from the. 20's. Large wide silver and green girders are uncommon and straight. There are axles and lock nuts for the wheel. I have rebuilt over 40 different sets from 1929 up.But this stumps me. Vintage Tiered Wood Plant Stand Display Shelves Unassembled
This is a well-made plant or display stand. Made of heavy wood. The base is very nice and substantial, measuring 12 x 12 inches and 4 inches tall. There are 4 shelves, measuring 10 inches long and 6.5 inches wide, 1 inch thick. The shelves are adjustable. The stand measures 31.5 inches tall. With a metal ring at the top. It will be shipped unassembled(as shown in the 2nd photo) It is very easy to put together with a rod(2 pieces screwed together) running through the center of the pieces. The pieces are simply stacked on this rod, much like a lamp. The most difficult part for me was holding the rod stationary on the bottom. It would be very easy for 2 people.or someone with long arms. Antique Carved Dark Wood Wall Shelves Piece. Angels, Lions, Crown, Serpents I got this in Dallas. Texas in 1985. I'm not a dealer or antique expert, so I'll do my best to describe this amazing piece. The pictures will probably tell the story better than I can. At it's widest point. It's 5' 11" across. Without the crown. It's 3' tall. With crown it's 4' tall. An old sticker on the back mentions"EXPRESO VILLALONGA" this appears to be a South American transportation and freight company. Which may mean this piece originates somewhere in South America, but I cannot be certain. Further research leads me to speculate that this piece may be Spanish, late 1800s. I don't know the age of this piece and I don't know the type of wood— there may be more than one type of wood used. While the piece ... moredoes have two metal hanging pieces. I added two more because this piece is heavy and I always made sure it was hung from studs. There is some damage to this piece and I have made some repairs which you can see in the pictures— see the angel's wings. For example. I've also tried to show some of the chips and gouges in the pictures. The structure is solid, but there are some areas on the backing panels that appear damaged by woodworms(I've captured this in one of the pictures) There does not appear to be any active, current activity by wood eating insects! And complement the brass door handles. The back is mirrored and there is a mirror on the bottom. Each of the four glass shelves is very thick and they can be adjusted to the desired height.
