Up for auction is this very pretty. Vintage, possibly antique very decorative plate from"New Habsburg" of Austria. This fine item features a scalloped rim of deep burgundy gold and two heart shaped piercings blending into a pinkish/lavendar ring with floral adornment finishing with a white center accentuated with a gold corona. Vintage NEW HAVEN WESTINGHOUSE ELECTRIC CLOCK WESTMINSTER CHIME in radio cabinet
Vintage 40's New Haven Westinghouse electric clock. Plays Westminster Chimes 4 chime rods. Clock works good. Runs quietly,keeps accurate time. This is a self starting clock. Plug it in, set the time by opening the front glass and move the minute hand manually backwards to the correct time. There's a winding knob to wind for the chiming system when first setting up the clock, marked"Auxiliary Wind" This winds the spring to activate the strike system. As the clock runs, it automatically keeps the spring wound for the chime so you don't have to wind it again. It chimes each quarter hour, then counts out the hour. It chimes very slowly playing the 4 quarters notes, but quickly when it counts the hour. This may need cleaning?oiling? or may just be the way they are? There's a knob in the back to"silence" the ... morechimes and it works too. Chiming sequence is self adjusting and will correct itself within 2 hours after set up. The chimes sound great, nice tones, but the hammer rods look modified, and most likely will need adjusting after shipping. The all wood mahogany case is obviously a radio cabinet. Not sure if it was a Westinghouse radio before someone converted it into the clock, looks like a pretty good job, displays well. It has two Bakelite knobs on each side of the dial face, they don't turn, I guess they're for"show" The round convex glass dial lens looks good. Clean no scratches nor cracks, The dial face is aluminum with a white number ring, and gold color lines for the hours. I believe originally they were brass pieces glued on the spots but these look like decals, not brass just brass-looking. Black hands with brass seconds hand.The outer brass bezel opens and closes easily, good hinge, and snaps shut tightly. Good newer but vintage power cord with non-polarized add-on plug. This is a pair of unusual brass or bronze Gothic style hinges. They measure aprox. 7" x 3 1/4" and are 3" across the center hinge. There is some sort of finish that has been applied. This was an intriguing piece from the very beginning. I recall that I happened to see it right after it had come in, it was lying on its side, and I asked whether it was a coffin! Adam stood it up and showed me what it was and how it worked. I had been drawn by its beautiful finish and simple lines. I could find no maker's mark, but Adam described it as mission style from the arts& crafts period. Unlike most lecterns I've seen, its door opens from the front, but it has a spring latch(not original) that keeps it closed. I have listed it as good condition for a piece its age. But please note these details: As you can see from close-ups. It is old and has some nicks and cracks. It is intact and functional but fragile; the front door is thin and had a crack on the main panel when I bought it, so that panel is really two pieces of wood that are held in place by the molding on the door's back side.
