Antique Jewelry Box, Distressed Gold Gilded Wood-Victorian Print under Glass Top
This is a very old jewelry box. It is made of wood and has a plate of glass on the top over a victorian like print. The scene on the print has 2 human(male? figures resting and talking with sheep and landscape in the background. The top has very old hinges that are more of a bracket rather than a fit together hinge. There is an aging mirror on the underneath side of the top. The silver backing has worn from the middle of the mirror. Inside the box there is a gilded gold wood divider that seperate the box into 3 sections. This wood piece can be removed by just pulling up. Underneath the divider there is another plate of glass although this one is broken. The wood trim is worn a bit but also has carved and lined detail. This little box does show its age but at this point it almost adds to it's beauty. It is in solid shape. Here is a Gen II made in Japan 1980-1983 DM-19 Sigma by Martin acoustic guitar in as close to NOS as you can get without actually being new old stock.Solid Spruce top stained mahogany with same species solid core laminate back and sides. Mahogany 3 piece scarf jointed neck. This guitar is eaiy in 9.5 condtion. This guitar was purchased in 1980 and simply put away in its hardcase. It was pulled out now and then but never seriously played and so has survived in excellent cosmetic and structural condition. There may be a faint srcatch somewhere and I know there is a less than 100 of one inch flea bite on the top of the headstock but other than that this is pristine. Fully set up and low easy action. As I am not a Luthier or expert on Guitars or other instruments. Please excuse my attempts at correct terminology. I have consulted with a Luthier, and that along with some online research and my own experience and observations form the speculations* and certainties below. Some pictures show red, white, green and blue images on finish. They are camera flash, TV, fireplace, furniture and/or window reflections unless noted otherwise and any perceived blemishes are flames in wood grain unless noted. I have detailed any and all cosmetic/structural issues in the condition section and/or below. The following are observations and when noted with an* opinions. Any additional knowledge/information is welcome. Special thanks to the Harmony database. Grand Concert Model. In my opinion. The best, most full body sounding of the Stellas. In general Excellent+ ... morecondition except for 2 easily remedied issues. 1st- Neck has lifted slightly from body, about 1/16th of an inch with low string tension to 3/32nds of an inch at normal tension. It is a clean lift, clean lift of dovetail and has not pulled any wood or damaged body other than very slight depression at top of soundhole. This may be one of the easiest neck resets I've seen. 2nd- There is a thin, hairline crack in back. It was only noticeable as someone, not me! colored it with a thin red marker and it is so thin that only a strong light barely shows through the inside. It is stable, shows no movement with pressure applied and is secure to braces. It may likely not even require a cleat. See close-up pictures. So Project? for only these two things, otherwise in Excellent + condition. Date stamp is so faint as to be indiscernible. According to Harmony database. Shape, color and floating bridge place it from 1959 to 1967. Serial# 5136H1141. Nicely figured, Solid Birch Body. Deep, strong Bass and Volume. This is a nice Oriental bottle with inside painted scenes. I believe that they are sunrise and sunset. The colors are very dark and very rich. The bottle seems to be clear leaded glass. The red lid is plastic with a partial cork attached. There's a scent of something when you open it. But I think it's more the smell of the rubber stopper. I really don't think it was ever used. FANTASTIC RETRO BLACK GLASS BOX WITH AIREDALE DOG ON THE TOP
What a great find this was. Beautiful black glass box with the little dog on the top. It looks like an Airedale which was a popular dog in the 30s and used for decoration on a lot of different items back then. The little box measures 3 1/2" long by 2" wide and 3" tall. It has a tiny little flea bite on the underside of the lid very very tiny. This could have been made by any number of factories like L.E. Smith. Fenton, Tiffin or one of the others at the time. This vintage candy dish is in very good condition. The bottom is all glass from Italy. The bottom base measurement is 4 1/2" in diameter, and the top of the glass is 6" in diameter. The top is all stainless steel, and has a solid strawberry on top surrounded by leaves. It is in good condition, with just a couple of little flaws that you can view in the pictures. Overall a very nice piece weighing in at 1 1/2lbs.
