I could not feel them but I can see them, shown in last two pictures are front side and back side. Hand-painted porcelain antique inkwell Possibly 19th century Floral design. Metal(pewter? fittings SIZE: This inkwell measures 2 and 3/4 inches high and 1 and 3/4 inches across. CONDITION: Good. No chips or cracks. There is some discoloration of the royal blue paint. I can't tell if the paint has eroded with age or was damaged in an attempt to clean it. The rest of the painted designs. Including the gilt, have held up well. ABOUT THE INKWELL: I know nothing about this inkwell except that it is cute and obviously old. I can't explain the thinning areas of the blue paint but I am pricing this relatively low to reflect the flaw. This inkwell came with other vintage inkwells from the collection of a Rhode Island family. It is petite and a lovely design and would look fine on a shelf or old desk.

Pyramid-shaped lid and brass fittings Possibly Baccarat Likely 19th century SIZE: This inkwell measures 2 and 7/8 inches high and 1 and 7/8 inches across. CONDITION: Very good. A superficial scratch in the crystal on the bottom of the inkwell and a tiny knick on the edge of the shoulder are the only flaws in this lovely piece. Brass has the patina of age and the hinge works well. ABOUT THE INKWELL: I wish I could tell you that this is Baccarat. But I don't know for sure. Fellow bidders at the auction where I bought it believed it was made by the French crystal company most famous for paperweights. I also wish I could say definitively that it was made in the 19th century. I don't know that either, except that years of experience collecting antiques make me pretty sure it's ... moreearly- from the color, construction and heft.
