You are bidding on one lot of 4 antique porcelain dipping bowls. The are all hand painted. I am not sure of the age but they should be pre 1900's they look old. The bowls are 2.5" in diameter. I believe this is Japanese porcelain but the bowls have no markings. The bowls are in pretty good shape for their age. The first bowl has a chip on the outer edge but none of the others have chips and they have no cracks. This is a nice lot of antiques and I wish I knew more about them. Please see pictures. Measures approx 11" high x 5" x 5" at the base. Constructed from tinplate. The edges with decorative hammered plates laid over, the sides each with a raised circular motif, and the front side inset with a moon faced man in a bowler hat with open mouth. The lower lip is a striking plate. On top of the box is a finely modelled heron. Which is connected to a mechanism inside the box. When the lever on the back is pulled downwards. The heron bends over and grasps a cigarette in its beak as the cigarette is lifted from inside the box. The mechanism is working although a bit jerky and is not very successful at picking up cigarettes on ... morea regular basis. On the underside of the box are stamped the patent marks. This is a lot of three(3) antique Chinese Export Porcelain Rooster Pattern Dipping Dishes. They date from around the early 1900s to 1910. They all have an old"China" production mark. Indicating that they were exported to the US in that period. These are the earliest examples of this pattern, and they are immensely superior to later wares of this pattern in porcelain quality, enamel decoration, etc. Also, these dipping dishes are rare as they normally don't survive 100 years, much less in this condition. The overall condition of all three dishes is excellent. There is minimal wear to the enameling. The dimension: 3 inches in diameter and 1 1/2 inches in height. The authenticity is guaranteed. Set of small lacquerware serving bowls with lids for dipping. Sushi, condiments, etc. There is a total of 17 pieces. 2 of each item plus one bowl that has no match, you see it in photo 3 with no lid. I am guessing how the lids, if they are lids, go with the pieces, so am also showing you them all upside down as well as right side up and with lids on. There is a quarter for scale. The largest bowl, about the size of an egg cup, is 2" tall and 1.5" wide. The smallest piece(a lid) is 1.25" wide and.5" deep. These are hand painted in a gold tone over black. This may be makie.
