Condition: Used Location: Bellflower, United States This is a glorious mid century modern display case that you might never see one like again! It likely came out of an 1950's diner. Old candy store ... moreor bakery. Could have been used to display small items such as candy, jewlery, baked goods, linens or other smaller valuable items. This show case is in nice condition and is ready for use in you antique booth, store or home. It could be used to store and display anything you can imagine, this cabinet is more versatile than your average show case. This one was designed for counter top use but it could be displayed on a mantel, coffee table or anywhere a large curio cabinet could be displayed. The metal on this piece appears to be aluminum which has all the character of aged metal with distinctive little scrapes and scratches that truly add character to this already amazing piece! The glass is old, very thick and flawless with no chips, cracks or any noticed damage except the minor observations mentioned below. It has two fixed glass shelves and sliding rear smoked glass doors. Included is a cut to size piece of microfiber for the bottom of the case which can be used or not. The teal colored sheet metal in the bottom of the case is very cool also! This is a very rare, sought after example of a hard to find 1950's display case! This display case can be used the way it is. However. There are a few insignificant issues the new owner may want to address. First, the edges of the the smoked glass rear doors are chipped along their edges. Pictured) This is to be expected given the age of this glass and that they have been open and closed probably thousands of times in their lifetime. You can hardly tell when the doors are closed. Secondly, there are a few areas(mostly in corners, ect) that could be tightened up with a little solder. We would like to stress that this piece is functional as is and we are very picky when we look over our items we auction. Up for sale is this beautiful wooden handcrafted Bakery shop made by the very talented IGMA Fellow Patricia Paul. It is very rare that you will see this piece come up on ebay as she only made about 10 or so pieces. It is signed on the bottom Patricia Paul 1993(artist's proof) I paid around 475 USD for this piece a few years back. It is a wonderful piece. Everything is hand carved and painted. The detail is amazing, the little cakes, the baker holding the tray of cakes and a little boy with chocolate over his face, there is even a wedding cake in the shop. The little baker detached but is held down with a bit of blu-tak, but he can be removed and placed and glued wherever you like. THE ONLY reason I am selling this piece. You are bidding on two very nice Buildings that could be a nice background main street buildings on your layout or diorama. Included are McCullough's Bakery and Barrett Drugs. McCullough's Bakery is a fine example of Art deco design in a small building the lavender stucco is accented with black tiles. Built around 1930. This building still exists on Main Street in Rock Mount North Carolina, and now it can exist on your layout. The quality is good enough for the foreground or a side street as well. The drugstore and soda fountain were a natural combination. Many early soft drinks were invented by druggists. These kits are well built. And clean, all details are attached. These are built models from an A. G. Smith Cut and Assemble Main Street set in HO scale. This item was recently acquired from the estate of a fabulous modeler and it simply exceeds my needs and era. These buildings and their mates will look great on your layout. This is a glass from Posin's which was a Jewish Bakery and Deli in Washington DC. This glass is almost 6 inches tall. It says Our 42nd Year in the Nation's Capitol in one part and the other part says Posins' Bakery Delicatessen. There is a spot on glass to the right of the line where it says Posins' where it looks as if there was yellow paint like the rest of the writing. It has worn off leaving a mark. Also. We have used it on 240V for the past three years Manually controlled with bar switch This is an older machine but we have used it daily for the last three years There are only two things we have noticed: the belts are stiff in the morning and need to be ran for a minute or so to loosen them up. If you don't run them it could pop the circuit breaker on the machine and it needs to be reset or will need to cool off for 30 minutes or so(happened only three or so times in the last three years) New belts might fix this- there is a slight oil leak on one of the seals. The 2 paper labels have great graphics of a young lady standing with 2 cows in the center scene. The labels do have some wear but the design and words are well intact, and displays well. There is another partial paper label on the side of the box that says" Champion Vanilla Grandmas, vanilla" I believe that this label was to tell what was inside the crate, like crackers or biscuits. This is a good old wooden advertising box. The lid originally had straps that were used to connect the top to the box, but the straps are gone and is not attached but can be fixed easily. Found in northern France. A classic and rare large round vintage hard wood bread board once used long ago in a French bakery. One side has wood"spines" to keep the board from warping.
