Due to the use of a 28 tpi socket set screw which sits and locates on a round horizontal pin, with a single point of contact( rather than a round wobbly wheel resting on top of the tool post) A feature not always recognized with the KDK design is its low profile making it easy to actually see over the tool post or to use the top flat of the tool post to measure down and set the tool-bit accurately at center height. Most of the KDK tool holders(KDK calls them“bars” allow two tools to be mounted in one holder(you turn the holder over– a two-for-one) The locking handle is height-adjustable and can be adjusted to keep it out of your way. KDK Tool Post Holder. Series 0 + 2 Slide In's- Remember These? For auction/ sale is a lathe tool post- KDK quick change. I believe it to be their Series 0 size. The first slide in holds half inch bits on the left side and across the front for normal turning and facing- I think they call this the 01 slide in but it has no markings. The second slide in looks more like it holds 7/16 bits on the left side for turning(extended? I think this is the 03 slide in and it is marked as such. Missing is the bolt and the tee to fit your particular lathe. This tool post is very functional- The cam action moves freely and locks up both holders very well. I'm selling some quick change tool posts that I got with a lathe. What you see in the pictures is what you get(except the ruler) They are KDK brand. Looks similar to Aloris style tool posts. There are two different size toolposts. No. 109110 and No. 8674. The smaller one is a little rusty but could be sand blasted. Bidirectional clamping lever on right side, and innovative toolbar features. It is VERY easy to check tools for correct centerline height because the top of the toolholder is flat and parallel to the ways. Here is a tip from a Practical Machinist contributor: Make a simple but effective centering tool based on the tool block height. Take a piece of Starrett stock 1" x 3/8" ... morex 12" long and tap a 1/4-28 threaded hole in one end. Take a 1/4-28 X 1.5" long set screw(same as the height adjustment screws in the KDK tool blocks I believe) and face off one end flat. Install set screw in bar and lock in place to correct height with nut. Any time you need to check centerline. Rest the bar on top of the KDK holder and match the tool tip to the preset height of the set screw. Spare parts and additional bars are readily available from aftermarket sources and ebay. For reference: Detailed description of individual pieces in this set: Tool Post: Bluing in generally good condition. 2 small scratches on left side. Deliberate scribed centerline on top surface.
