This auction is for one(1) original World War One US Military display piece generally described as follows. Description: This item is piece of a US Military exploded Stokes mortar fuse(adapter? which has a spent 30 caliber brass projectile imbedded or punctured into the side of the piece. History: Found laying in a shallow plowed field in the late 1960's near the Mt Gretna. Pa area. This location and the surrounding area was the former site of the Pa National Guard before moving to Ft Indiantown Gap in the late 1930's. The main body appears to be that of a Stokes(or similar) mortar fuse which while exploding was penetrated by a 30 caliber military rifle projectile which was fired during the same moment the shell exploded. The piece is manufactured of brass including the projectile. Overall measurement: 1-3/8th inches.
