It stands about 21 inches tall and is in excellent condition with no cracks, breaks, or repairs of any kind. It has a brass pump cylinder that would polish up nicely! Everything moves as it should. Antique Cast Iron Barnes Mansfield Ohio Well Pump Old Rustic Barn Decor Hit Miss
Up for bids at auction: Up for bids is this antique cast iron. Barnes Mfg. Co. Well Pump. This pump is in great condition, it was found at an old farm estate in Central Iowa where the pump had been sitting unused on an old well for many years. It has been cleaned, given two coats of primer and flat black enamel paint then detailed in white to keep it looking great for many years to come. All of the old rusted stuck nuts and bolts have been replaced by new-old-stock square head hardware so it is as authentic as possible. As you can see in the pictures, the pump is marked with raised, embossed lettering that reads, BARNES MFG CO ~ MANSFIELD O” on the stem as well as having embossed part numbers on the various pieces of the pump. The way it sits now, the pump displays beautifully and would make an eye-catching piece in any collection. The handle ... moreraises, lowers and works just as it should and the pump could easily be reconditioned to pump water by hand. The old water pipe was removed from the body and a new one can easily be installed. There is an old chip from the iron on the neck and a spot where one of the handle ears had been repaired long ago- these have been painted over and are easily overlooked- other than that, no damage to be found. Overall height from the base of the pump to the top of handle is just under 45 inches. Here we have a very nice Vintage Barnes Mfg. Co. Mansfield, Ohio, Model BH-81, Steam Engine Water Pump, Lever Operated in Excellent Condition. This is a good sized engine and pump, 23" long, 16" tall, and 9" wide without a lever. Steam holes are all 7/16" x 14 thread and clean. The water holes are 3" on the bottom and approx. 2" on the top. Lever actuation moves, and 39" lever is included. There is an old repair on the bottom lever yoke as shown in the photos, everything is holding together, but I'm sure it will need repaired. This is a wonderful show piece or could be put back to use. I believe this steam pump dates around 1910.
