This is 8.5" long when the handle is pushed in the whole way. The handle knob is wood and the rest is metal. It has that'copper color' But I don't know if it is. Maybe brass? or some other type of metal with a similar look. There are no markings other than"Pat. Apl'd For" so I don't know the age or maker. It some age and wear to it but it does work.
