THIS IS A VERY COLLECTIBLE HAND PUMP MADE BY BENNETT PUMP-JOHN WOOD COMPANY. HERE IS SOME INFO I FOUND ON GOOGLE, I DONT HAVE A WAY TO TEST THIS PUMP BUT IT IT DOES MOVE BACK AND FORTH AND MAKES A GURGLE SOUND. In 1919. Thomas B. Bert) Bennett owned and operated a taxi service and drive-in service station in Muskegon. As the owner of the business he was probably responsible for most of the service on the taxicabs. One of the most demanding chores was packing grease in the differentials by hand. He felt there must be a better way to do this. He spotted an ad in a auto magazine for a grease injector. The A.J. Wood Manufacturing Company of Grand Rapids. Not far from Muskegon, was selling it. Bert went to Grand Rapids to purchase one of the injectors. He not only came back with an injector; he came back with the whole company. Wood had orders, ... morebut he lacked capital to meet the demand, so he sold the company. Bert rented some space in Muskegon and started the Bennett Injector Company. During the first four years. Sales increased from $33,000 the first year to close to $500,000 and Bennett was becoming a very successful company. It was evident that for further expansion the company needed more capital and the stockholders agreed to sell controlling interest in Bennett to the Service Station Equipment Company, Ltd. of Toronto, Canada. Some would say seasoned vintage look. It is what is, pictures are not deceiving. I will add though that the rough, crusty texture is not rust but is the old paint cracked and crumbling off. In the one photo of the side you can barely see the round Gulf logo still trying to poke through. The sheet metal is very good condition. The structure of the tank is incredibly solid. The column and the two globe shaped parts down low are made of Bronze(I think) The rest is made of Iron or Cast Iron It ... morehas small diameter fittings attached. So I wonder if it is a Water pump or more likely for Oil or Fuel. Any help would be appreciated. The column is about 12" high x 1-1/2" diameter. The stroke is a little over 5" The handle is about 31" long Overall size with the handle down: 32" wide x 5" deep x 21" high Inside the column. Around the rod, is packing. I imagine it has to get wet to be effective, but I don't know if it is working right or not, so you may need to provide seals or other maintenance before putting this pump to use. VINTAGE AUTO/MOTORCYCLE OIL TANK AND HAND PUMP
I believe that this is an antique motorcycle oil tank& hand pump used to lubricate the engine. I say this because I have a 1922 Indian motorcycle engine with a similar lubricating system. The only difference is the shape of the tanks. This one is round- the one on my Indian is square. However my tank may not be the original one because the engine is set up on a tripod with airplane propeller& not on a bike. This Tank is made of steel with a brass fill screw& brass pump. It is about 10 1/2 inches tall and 3 inches in diameter with a curved arc bottom that is a little over 2 inches tall& extends half way across the diameter of the tank. It has 2 mounting tabs on the bottom(one of which is broken. But can be easily fixed as they are soldered to the bottom of the tank) The curved bottom was made to probably conform to the shape ... moreof the crankcase, transmission or bike frame. It weighs about 2 pounds and the inside of it(and the pump) is very clean. I think it can still be used on an antique engine. I have no idea how my father acquired this tank since he definitely was not a motorcycle enthusiast. Must have been a bargain since one of the mounting tabs is broken. If anyone familiar with antique motorcycles recognizes this tank. I would appreciate hearing from you.

The following auction is for a CJ Hartley hand well pump. I think its the kind that would mount on a kitchen wall by the sink. I am not sure if its made to pull water out of a 20 ft deep well. Its a bit dirty and rusty. It could use a good cleaning. I have no idea if it works or not. I can pull the slide that is inside the well housing. It does move up and down.But not a lot. It is labeled CJ Hartley Peoria ILL on the pump handle. On the pump housing it has the number 455. The bracket that mounts to the wall is numbered 453. The one side of the handle says Patd Nov 8. 1908.Then numbered 450. Its covered in a layer of surface rust.But its not rusting through or rotted away. Its more of a rustic rusty look. From the wall mount to the top of the well housing it measures about 8.5 inches. The bracket that mounts to the wall is about 10.5 inches ... morefrom hole to hole. From bottom of the pump(where the union is) to the top of the handle measures about 17 inches. A neat rustic piece. You will probably have to replace the leather gasket inside the pump. This is a rare. Incredibly nice Aro hand cranked pump for a 16 gallon oil/grease drum. Also included in the sale is the drum and rare cart with cast-iron wheels. As you can see in the photos this pump has a beautiful clock-style dial with great patina. The crank handle knob is in great shape as well. The original cork float is solid and intact. The overall look of this pump, drum and cart is terrific. Hose appears to be solid with some slight checking(I tried to show this in the photos) Since the drum did not have any oil in it, the pump has not been tested to see if it works. Vintage BARRETT The Cleveland Brass Mfg Co. Hand Oil Barrel Drum Pump Flex Spout
14 years ago. My mother-in-law came to live with us. Recently widowed, she left her house as it was, came to Oregon and said she was never going back home. We told her we would pack her house up, pack EVERYTHING, and bring here for her to sort through at her pleasure. Her house was much like a museum. She was an avid and well known antique dealer and collector in Los Angeles in the mid to later 1900's. We moved over 700 boxes of items from her house. Along with many pieces of furniture. 1 of her pieces has been on the Antique Road Show. I built a 7000 sq. foot building to accommodate all her collections. She never opened a box. She died about 6 years ago. And we have just begun the process of going through the boxes ourselves. It is an arduous process. Some items will go to concession dealers. Some are given away, some things donated, ... moresome are kept and some things are offered here. I used to write a bit of the history at the beginning of each ad. I have decided to write this, and when a bit of provenance fits, I will include this introduction. These items were collected many years ago by a very sweet and knowledgeable lady. Wish she was here to tell me about each item we offer, but, I am on my own, and will do my best to describe. The gallery picture is where this pump is now. In my office, where it will become decor until someone else decides to add it to theirs. The pump is what is offered here, not the drinking man head. This is a BARRETT pump. That is what the label says anyway. Below that is the name The Cleveland Mfg. Co. I did not find another pump like this one. so I cannot tell you about it other than what we see. The pump is tight. In that when the handle is worked up and sown, it feels good. There is something inside the pump that sounds like a ball bearing, it may be a back flow check. Antique hand crank oil pump with rare shelf and extra vent valve.
Very cool antique hand oil pump. As the pictures show this pump comes with a shelf to hold the can you are filling. The shelf drains back into the pump in case of over flow. There is a separate vent valve shown in the pictures. This was last used on a 55 gallon drum. And the pump and vent are will fit a drum. The main cylinder is bronze and the remainder of the unit was originally painted black, much of that paint has aged, but there is no bad rust. It was never exposed to weather and was working fine when last used. The entire unit is about 50" tall and weighs a good 30 or so pounds. The manufacturer is unknown, I can find no badges or engraving.

I will be listing several oil/grease cans that are vintage used cans. They were probably used on the farm or other place of business. They show signs of use. Please expect dings. Dents, surface rust, paint chips, missing paint, and scratches. The cans have most but not all of the grease/oil wiped off them to make them presentable. Some were quite dirty and caked with grease/oil. Typical of use and handling. This auction is for a nice 120 lbs. net green and white Texaco oil or grease can. I'm not sure what type of oil/grease Marfak 0 is but the can came with a vintage cast iron Lincoln Model 500 Series B hand pump mounted on its top. The can does not have a lid. This can was still about 1/4 full of what looked like a semi fluid grease. It has been cleaned out and as you can see the inside of the can is in nice condition. Some minor dents, ... moredings and paint scrathes are present. There is some surface rust on the bottom of can which I'm sure is from sitting around all these years. The can is solid with only the surface rust on bottom present. I do not know if the pump is functional. Can stands approximately 26" tall plus the pump. The pump will be taken off and packed inside can for shipping purposes. Total shipping weight will be approx. 30 lbs.
