It measures 3 1/2" tall 5 3/4" long and 4" wide. where the handle connects dirt has gotten in the original groves as picutred. It also has a few small nicks on the pattern cuts at the base and a two small areas of wear on the bottom as is expected for a piece of this age. but. RARE" CIVIL WAR PAPER FOR JOHN C. BLACKMER when he was Mustered into the service of the United States as a 1st LIEUTENANT in the 135th(100 day) Indiana Volunteers. The paper is dated the Seventeenth Day of May. 1864. It is signed by Laz Noble Adjutant General of Indiana and Oliver P. Morton Governor of Indiana. It is 17" wide and 13 1/4" tall.
