Vintage BARRETT The Cleveland Brass Mfg Co. Hand Oil Barrel Drum Pump Flex Spout
14 years ago. My mother-in-law came to live with us. Recently widowed, she left her house as it was, came to Oregon and said she was never going back home. We told her we would pack her house up, pack EVERYTHING, and bring here for her to sort through at her pleasure. Her house was much like a museum. She was an avid and well known antique dealer and collector in Los Angeles in the mid to later 1900's. We moved over 700 boxes of items from her house. Along with many pieces of furniture. 1 of her pieces has been on the Antique Road Show. I built a 7000 sq. foot building to accommodate all her collections. She never opened a box. She died about 6 years ago. And we have just begun the process of going through the boxes ourselves. It is an arduous process. Some items will go to concession dealers. Some are given away, some things donated, ... moresome are kept and some things are offered here. I used to write a bit of the history at the beginning of each ad. I have decided to write this, and when a bit of provenance fits, I will include this introduction. These items were collected many years ago by a very sweet and knowledgeable lady. Wish she was here to tell me about each item we offer, but, I am on my own, and will do my best to describe. The gallery picture is where this pump is now. In my office, where it will become decor until someone else decides to add it to theirs. The pump is what is offered here, not the drinking man head. This is a BARRETT pump. That is what the label says anyway. Below that is the name The Cleveland Mfg. Co. I did not find another pump like this one. so I cannot tell you about it other than what we see. The pump is tight. In that when the handle is worked up and sown, it feels good. There is something inside the pump that sounds like a ball bearing, it may be a back flow check. Texaco 120 Lb. Oil Durm Barrel Lincoln Cast Iron Hand Pump Marfak 0 Gas Station
I will be listing several oil/grease cans that are vintage used cans. They were probably used on the farm or other place of business. They show signs of use. Please expect dings. Dents, surface rust, paint chips, missing paint, and scratches. The cans have most but not all of the grease/oil wiped off them to make them presentable. Some were quite dirty and caked with grease/oil. Typical of use and handling. This auction is for a nice 120 lbs. net green and white Texaco oil or grease can. I'm not sure what type of oil/grease Marfak 0 is but the can came with a vintage cast iron Lincoln Model 500 Series B hand pump mounted on its top. The can does not have a lid. This can was still about 1/4 full of what looked like a semi fluid grease. It has been cleaned out and as you can see the inside of the can is in nice condition. Some minor dents, ... moredings and paint scrathes are present. There is some surface rust on the bottom of can which I'm sure is from sitting around all these years. The can is solid with only the surface rust on bottom present. I do not know if the pump is functional. Can stands approximately 26" tall plus the pump. The overall objective is to preserve as much as the old tool or item with a good balance of lifetime patina as possible without the use of power tools. Metal is initially cleaned using mineral oil.
