Beautiful solid silver powder compact. Hallmarked Birmingham 1937, maker Henry Clifford Davis. The compact is in very good condition. With only some minor tarnishing on the inside and a few slight scratches to the mirror- but these do not affect the use of the mirror. The front of the compact features a lovely pink blossom spray. Please see pics for more details. The compact is engraved on the inside rim with K.V.T. 1914- 1939. And was a present for a relatives silver wedding anniversary. Date: London 1926. Maker: C& A for Collett& Anderson- slightly rubbed. Hallmarked on the lid and the base. On the underside of the silver lid is the Registration number 710508. This lovely Bowl has a inner compartment which still retains it's gilding. This would be ones small powder puff container. Maybe for Rouge. The Shell is in excellent condition. There is one small ding to the inside of the inner bowl near the hinge. I do not think that this detracts from this lovely and unusual piece. I have not seen many bowls with the hinged top and separate compartment. Which is in very good working order. The whole top pulls off to reveal the Glass ... morebowl. Star cut to the base. Each jar measures 3 inches tall and is approximately 3-1/4 inches in diameter. The jars are both in excellent condition with no chips. Flakes, bites, nicks or cracks. Both have polished rims and bases. There is one closed powder jar lid and one open hair receptical lid. The powder jar lid weighs 20.2 grams, and has one noticable dent on the edge, and another very tiny one on the underside of the rim. It is also monogramed in script with interlocking CC. The Hair receptical lid weighs 21.3 Grams, and also has two or three noticable dents on the edge. Total weight of the two lids combined is 41.5 grams. Other than the dents on the edges of the silver lids, there is light scuffing but not deep scratches, gouges, ... moreor breaks. The jar is not marked. We have tested the lid with nitric acid and guarantee it to be sterling silver. It is unusual that the top is not marked sterling. But it is definitely sterling. Vintage Jensen/Wendel 925s lady's round compact weighing about 80grams with letters EP. Think these letters are enamel. It has original powder puff with original powder still in it. It has a nice feel to it when held. The clasp is tight. Hinge and mirror excellent also. There are scratches from use and 2 very small dings, one on back and one along side of compact. It stands 9.5" tall and 6" wide at the mouth(24.13cm by 15.24cm) Most likely early 20th century. But could be older. Although not signed, it is attributed to Tanzan, but could also be Eiraku. I think the pictures will better describe this listing than I am able to. As all I can say is that this is a JWB hallmarked compact with the date letter B is a top and bottom notched square which I believe dates it to 1951. The sprung button for opening and the hinge are both operating perfectly. The anchor denotes that it was assayed in Birmingham. This is a rare octagonal design with what I believe to be a Navy badge on the front, and a quite similar item ended at over 200 pounds in the last few weeks. I am starting at an exceptionally reasonable 65.00 pounds and there is no reserve. The reason for starting low is the following areas of damage. 1) Cracked Mirror 2) Dent to machined silver back 3) One chip corner to the enamel 4) Light surface scratching to the surface of the enamel. I am sure the mirror is easy to replace. But I am not ... morean expert in the other areas. Please view the pictures and make your own mind up. From the estate of a New Hampshire clock and watch repairman is this silver plated powder container with embossed woman and clock pendulum which he was going to add together for a gorgeous pendulum. The powder container is complete and can be used separately. It is 5" in diameter x 2 1/2" tall with dings or dents. Marked on the bottom Meriden Company Quadruple Plate and will shine up nicely and weighs 1 pound. For clock people. VINTAGE LALIQUE ENGRAVED POWDER BOX. This is an exquisite piece of Lalique in a different venue than his usual glass examples. This is a silver-toned engraved box that has beautiful flying Doves on the top. It is marked Lalique on the top in raised lettering under the Doves. It measures 1" wide x 2 3/4" across. You just pull it open to get to the powder which there isn't much left but still smells good. It doesn't weigh much. The bottom is also marked raised lettering-FLEURS D'AMOUR POURDE RACHEL ROGER ET GALLET PARIS. This lettering is surrounded by linear Sunburst lines. Up for sale is a vintage Stone Sterling Silver Company cut crystal glass powder box jar with sterling silver repoussé lid. Glass is expertly cut and reflects light beautifully. The repoussé lid is complexly detailed with overlapping flourishes surrounding the monogrammed center cartouche. This jar could be used as a trinket box to house your favorite jewelry or can be used on a vanity to hold your cotton swabs. Would make a lovely Valentine's Day gift! Up for bid is a beautiful Cobalt Blue Guilloche Enamel Sterling Silver Compact in lovelt condition. It is marked inside. Under the swivel shaker plate, 1857 AUSTRIA STERLING SILVER 925" with one more marking after 925 that I can't make out. The enamel is in good shape. With minor scratches from use, and a chip and hairline crack at the hinge(see photos) Cut into the center of the enamel is what looks like a silver basket of flowers with what appears to be ivory inlaid in the base of the basket. Hinge works perfectly, but lid is tight to close. Possible misaligned, but it does stay closed. Swivel shaker plate is removable and fully functional and is stamped AUSTRIA. The mirror is beveled glass. It looks like the original silver behind the glass has separated. But the glass is intact with ... moreno chips or cracks. The powder puff seems to be the original suede/cafe skin and does show wear. This is a wonderful original vintage art deco WMF IKORA of West Germany lidded bowl or powder jar from the 1930's. It is made of brushed silver plate and is signed on the bottom WMF IKORA West Germany. It measures 3 inches in height and 6 inches in diameter. It has some very minor surface scratches but other than that. It is in very good condition for its age. I am certain you will receive lots of compliments on this one! ANTIQUE JAPANESE SILVER NIELLO POWDER COMPACT
Beautiful antique silver niello compact with a rickshaw scene to the lid at the front and landscape at the back with the words silver 900 and Japanese character on reverse which I understand represents the word' south' so possibly Tokyo c 1910. The compact is approx 5cm diameter and in very good condition. The catch and hinge are in good working order and the slider inside the area which holds the powder also works very well. The mirror is in good condition with no damage. There are some light surface scratches to the outer casing but as you can see the item displays very well. Total weight approx 53grms. The compact comes with a black felt pouch and a tiny power puff which is covered with powder. There is also some unused powder in the well inside.
