I am unsure if it is made for steel or plastic, but I would assume based on its age, it is for steel. That is what I had used it for. One Lunger Hit Or Miss Engine" still in the backyard.which he used to cut wood.it ran from the engine to a large saw blade. It has been Stored For DECADES. This is a ACME Strapping tensioner. Windlass type. Heavey duty piece. Can handle strap widths from 3/8" to 1 1/4" I tryed it with some 1/2" strapping I have. Tightned it around the 1/2" plywood. Could have easily crushed the plywood. Overall length: 19 1/2" I havn't had a chance to get a price from Acme. It looks like the current model would be DTW 208. I also looked in the MSC book to get some information. There item#01700970 looks similar, the on line price is $642.75 for there made in USA item. I would say condition is good to almost very good. Of course) This package includes a steel strapping dispenser/cart(loaded with about three-quarters of a roll of steel strapping) and tools for increasing the strapping's tension, sealing it, and cutting it. As a bonus, a second set of wire cutters is included, as well as a handheld stretch-wrap dispenser and three-plus rolls of stretch wrap for securing boxes to a pallet before strapping. All of these items were purchase new from Uline, except for the second set of wire/steel cutters. The starting bid of just $399.99 is quite low. As can be seen in the photos from the Uline catalog.
