VINTAGE antique CHILDs WESTERN AMERICANA genuine LEATHER chaps RIDING gear OLD
Antique/ vintage child's chaps*Genuine calf skin leather*Serrated edges*Metal stud& concho trim*Old. Original, handmade Offered here is an antique/ vintage pair of child's chaps. These are very old and made of genuine calf skin leather. The inside is sueded. They are cut with a serrated edge on the leather, have top stitched green leather inserts at the hem and on the pocket. They have silver metal studs set around the belt, pocket and hem with metal prongs through the leather, none are missing. Down the front are silver conchos, there are three, one is missing, they have metal eyelets and tie with leather straps. The chaps are made to lace in the front and have a sturdy leather belt in the back that ties together, as set they would be about a 26" waist(this is adjustable) they are 26" long, the flared leg that wraps ... morearound the back is 20" at the widest. They fasten around the leg with metal prong hooks and eyes. The stitching is all very good, they are not torn or coming apart, sturdy leather, the leather is still quite soft and pliable. The finish, however is very well worn, there is some'scaling' of the top finish. Please view all photos. They are the major part of the description. My plans have changed and I no longer have a need for it. From what I understand, this unit is in good condition and it seems to turn smoothly and works well. I don't know a whole lot about these units, but it looks like you could change the output gear ratio if you want to to by putting a shaft in place of one of the plates on the side of the unit. I was told that gear reducers like this one cost thousands when new, so I'm listing it for a very low minimum bid. This lovely. Pre-owned, conestoga wagon is made of wood and has a top made from what appears to be a white, heavily starched fabric. This Western Electric 706 A drive is the gear box unit for a very early 1920s electric motor-driven turntable. A motor is attached to the side horizontal spindle and a turntable platter is placed on the top spindle. The horizontal spindle cranks the top spindle. Spinning the platter. These units were used in movie theaters because they offered a constant-speed playback when synced with silent films. You can see numerous pictures of the Western Electric 2A turntable on the internet, which has a very similar gear mechanism. I can't find any information whatsoever about this particular drive, nor which specific turntable model it belonged to. I don't even know if this drive was sold separately or as a part of a complete turntable system. I placed a small wrench on the horizontal shaft to turn it, and the mechanisms all work smoothly ... morewith no noise, missing or grinding. I assume the gears inside need greasing, and I suppose you will have to experiment with motor crankshaft speeds to find the right turntable rpm for your needs. And in my humble opinion- it is WILDLY COOL- that is, if you love very early radio equipment and information, especially of a Western Electric nature. It is not a WEco book per se, just loaded with many great pieces of very early WEco gear, as you can see in the pictures. The speech amplifier(mic pre) looks like it takes up a whole room! This radio manual is 666 pages long. From 1928, and loaded with greatness for any lover of early broadcast transmitters, microphones, speech amps and all related gear. Leather-Covered Stirrups Mismatched Pair Western Riding Gear Vintage
From the estate of a lifetime leatherworking master craftsman and custom saddle maker. A pair of leather covered stirrups. I will be the first to admit I know little or nothing about Western horse tack except what I can find by looking for other similar items. These were found in the old barn on the late saddlemaker’s ranch in Southern Middle Tennessee, home of the walking horse and quarter horse, and though I do not usually clean items I offer on eBay, I cleaned the leather portions of this item with a damp cloth and a little bit of saddle soap. I did this because the items were so covered with the dust of decades that you couldn’t have seen the details of the leather or wood if I had not done so. Here is what you get for your winning bid: These are heavy. Thick leather covered stirrups, a mismatched pair that looks like one of them was ... moremade in imitation of the other. I suspect the leatherworker whose estate this is from created one of them using the other as a blueprint. They are heavy duty. With several layers of thick leather at the footrest portion. Measurements are mostly the same: 3” deep at bottom(footrest) 6” wide at the widest point, and 4-3/8” 1) and 4-1/4” 2) wide at the top of the stirrups. The 1 st stirrup is 8” tall and the 2 nd is 7-1/2” tall. Structural variations: 1 st stirrup has 2 rivets or brads holding the leather covering together at the crosspiece. While the 2 nd stirrup has 1 rivet or brad at this same point(see photos) Underside of 2 nd stirrup shows leather stitching to affix reinforcing leather piece at footrest area(this is not present on the 1 st stirrup-see photos) I attended the estate sale of a local custom Western saddle maker and master leathersmith who had been working leather since before a brief interruption called World War Two until two years ago in Middle Tennessee.
